David Corn Exhumes McCarthy
Vanity ^ | 5 October 2006 | .cnI redruM

Posted on 10/05/2006 5:35:01 AM PDT by .cnI redruM

Liberals just can’t stand Senator McCarthy. They hate how he blacklisted all those people and tried to wreck their lives and careers. We know that good and noble liberals would ever engage in that sort of conduct themselves. Or do we?

According to David Corn, there’s a list going around. It is a list containing the names of homosexual aides to GOP congressional staffs; a list that 99.999999% of humanity was totally unaware of, and that had no meaning in their daily lives.

But it was a list that David Corn just had to make public on his blog. He wouldn’t reveal the names, he’s way too noble a guy, but he does go out of his way to make certain that we know which Senators and Congressman hire names on the list. It’s his duty as a journalist.

He particularly zeroes in on the ones on The Religious Right. We could make it through a day without knowing which Senators and Congressmen from the Atheistic Right or the Polytheistic Right hired homosexuals, but the ones on The Religious Right, those names have to be front and center. It’s for the good of The Constitution and The Republic.

David Corn makes one intelligent point. “Let's be clear about one thing: the Mark Foley scandal is not about homosexuality.” Right on David, it certainly isn’t. If the scandal had anything to do with homosexuality or even the welfare of brutally abused children, it would have come out back in 2005, when people knew Congressman Foley was putrid, reprehensible failure of a human being.

So why did this become so urgent in 2006? It has nothing to do with the welfare of these teenage kids that Democratic Congressional candidates are already running ads about. It’s not about homosexuality, being openly gay and openly willing to pour liquor down the throat of a 17 year old boy prior to sexual acts in The Capital Building was seen by defenders of Gerry Studds as a Congressional civil right.

So no, this certainly isn’t about homosexuality. It has no more to do with homosexuality than the release of Lawrence Walsh’s wrap-up of the Iran Contra Affair and coast-to-coast press release the day before the 1992 election had to do with then-President George Bush’s efforts to trade arms for hostages back in the Bad Old 1980s. We thank, Master of The Obvious, David Corn, for making us aware of this.

What this is about is character assassination and an effort to take “the values voter” out of Election 2006. Of course David Corn’s grasp of the obvious doesn’t quite make it that far, but the rest of us who have followed this sordid wallow through the IM bathhouse are able to make that short, intuitive leap.

This brings up the question of what type of political party would want “the values voter” to stay at home. Who benefits from an electorate of people who think it’s funny to hear Harry Waxman ask “So What?” What type of organization does well in an electorate that only consists of non-values voters?

I’m sure Master of The Obvious, David Corn, has an answer that will bring wisdom and light to us all. He doesn’t need to bother. We all ready know. He can go back to digging up McCarthy. Hopefully, after this sordid excuse for an election, the rest of us can go back to functioning as the world’s foremost nation.

To read Corn's fulsome pile of self-righteous bilge, here's the link...

Recommended only if you think I got David Corn's little black book confused with this supposed list of prominent GOP homosexuals.

I find it amusing to see the Democrats suddenly spawning a sense of morality.

I also find it amusing that they are calling for "What did the Republican Leadership know, and when did they know it?!?"

My question is, "What did the DEMOCRAT leadership know, and when did THEY know it?"

I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that they knew much more than Hastert and KEPT IT FROM HIM until October 1st.

But I think it should be and we should make it so but we have been conditioned not to upset anybody.

I wonder how it does feel to be the new McCarthy...

That's Corn's personal "date list". He hopes he can score some good lovin' someday ~ in the meantime he's using it to sell news stories.

The left had been so sucessful in the creation and maintenance of their McCarthy image they get nervous as it becomes clearer how right he was. All their writers, such as Corn here, have been told to help out with this problem and occasionally shore up the leaking dike.

A "values voter" in Alabama or Maryland or California who stays home on election day because of some paedophile's antics in Florida is as useful as a RINO voting as for tax increases.

Don't punish your local candidates for something that some deviant did.

Off soapbox.

It would probably get the 'Rats more votes. They wallow in this kind of stuff, and only wag their fingers and cluck when a Republican gets smeared with it. Remember that Gerry Studds had pep rallies and got re-elected to Congress five or six times after he was censured for liquoring up and diddling a 17 year-old page. The 'Rats (and their leadership) knew all about Studds and his sexual predilections and covered it up for 10 years.

Same with Barney Frank. All the 'Rats could do when his foibles with his hired boy toy running a homosexual prostitution services out of their home came to light was issued a limp noodle reprimand. After that, they ensconced him in leadership positions in the House and he has won landslide re-elections ever since.

Here we have 'Rats actually doing the stuff that Foley just talked about, yet everyone gives them a pass on that and want to crucify Foley for sending electronic messages. It seems the 'Rats are perfectly fine with their own members actually doing perverted things, but will scream from the rooftops if a Republican just types messages about it.

I don't think the 'Rats have any moral standing to take the 'Pubs to task on this. At least we take out our trash. The 'Rats keep theirs around and promote them to higher office.

Their self-righteous moral indignation and faux outrage is laughable. Nobody is listening to their rants, except their own voters. Dems spend all their political capital buying the votes of the already converted. They don't seem to realize that their cartoon show doesn't play well in the middle.........

FWIW no one I have talked to has indicated that this incident has swayed their vote. The only ones really talking it up are the people who were going with the 'Rats anyway. I guess it gives them a peg to hang their spurious moral outrage on, but in reality a clear-thinking person with a knowledge of political history will know that the 'Rats are simply reverting to type (i.e., hypocrites).
