Id be suprised if most of the people in Washington
werent gay or trolling for underage kids, or on drugs
or drunk, what else is there to do?
You can only bloviate at a press conference for a short time, what are you going to fill all those empty hours with?

Don't be too quick to discount the deal about Hastert being the target.

This gets better and better, Mcvey got the quickest "before you can talk" execution in modern US history. Edmund chose wisely. :^)

Jones would not say exactly why he was hired
I'm sorry, this just struck me as funny. Is this the usual state of things with lawyers?
To: PhiKapMom
I wouldn't be surprised to see Rove back down. If this happens Istook needs to step down and let Sullivan run. At least then we might have a chance.

Can you add ("Victim" Hires Major Defense Lawyer?) after the subject of this thread. Hiring McVeigh's attorney makes me wonder what is happening.

"Don't be too quick to discount the deal about Hastert being the target." Dems are lashing out. Any GOP target is fair game for them.
What I dismissed, and what you should dismiss, is any crackpot claim that the GOP planned this whole scandal to bring Hastert down.

Pelosi should resign, immediately!

Why a defense attorney?I'd guess extortion, conspiracy and maybe wiretapping charges might be rolling around in someone's noggin.
I sure wish I knew who cut the check for this guy's retainer.

but it makes no sense for it to be a republican take down. what's to gain by doing that in this time frame? Speaker Pelosi?
no way, its a Dem war room/MSM plot all the way. They may have some strange allies, who knows.

Wow, that lawyer probably costs a lot of money.
Maybe not.
Jones is an eccentric breed of lawyer for Oklahoma.
He made his $$$ doing oil and gas legal work.
And every once in awhile, he'll take on some pro bono work...
and he sure looks out of place as the slow-talking, conservative white
guy for some really dislikeable characters (like McVey).
Jones says he does it because he truly believes lawyers should take on
this sort of work at least occassionally to help the justice system.
Myself, I suspect he must get bored with just doing lucrative, but
standardized legal work in the oil patch and likes a little change of pace.

Asked why Edmund needed an attorney, Jones said, You read the blogs. You know why he needs an attorney. Uh, forgive my ignorance, but I don't see why he needs an attorney. Particularly a criminal attorney, which I believe is what Jones is.
