Does anybody have an update? My understanding is as follows:
1. The filthy IMs that were released were between an 18 yr old and Foley.
2. There are, apparently, more e-mails, more pages, and more IMs that haven't been released yet. These, allegedly, involve Foley and 16 year olds.

Is this accurate? This story is getting VERY hard to pin down with any certainty.

Not Shakespeare... Aristophanes!

Only the Greek playwright's manic disposition could correctly characterize the times in which we live when the semi-sex life of an obscure congressman leads to the downfall of an administration and the rise of Nancy Pelosi (!) as Speaker of the House followed by... what... impeachment hearings? Lysistrata anyone? Meanwhile, does anyone think it is ironic that so-called progressives who excoriated eavesdropping on terrorists are feasting on the publication of supposedly confidential email and IMs? You can forget about privacy. It no longer exists, if it ever did. The Patriot Act, if you think about it, is on some levels a joke, the Constitution a sideshow. The craven and rapacious stalk the corridors of power egged on by a loathesome media as hypocrisy rules and child abuse rears its ugly head with the age of consent debated by people whose only interest is their own ambitions. Meanwhile, lost in the shadows, an enemy whose "Messenger" married a nine -year old watches and waits.

The damage is already done................and any retraction or correction of previously released stories will occur maybe one or two times in some prestigious media outlet, like the East Ipswitch Observer of Northern Minnesota in the D-section on page 32 at the bottom right next to the advertisement of the BIG SALE at "Crazy Bob's Used Cars".

Try this. A 25% across the board increase in active duty manpower and still needed equipment. Bush is against it, Rummy is against it, Gore against it, and the GOP and DEM Congress is as well.

Try this. We have almost a $500 billion defense budget, which is more than the rest of the world combined. Can we afford a 25% increase in active duty personnel and all of the related equipment, infrastructure, etc.? How does this impact major weapons systems procurement? <

If the entitlement programs [Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid] are not reformed, by 2060, the combination of Social Security and Medicare will account for more than 71 percent of the federal budget. Today, Social Security pays out more than $450 billion a year. Defense spending is considered as "discretionary" spending. We are going to have a hard time maintaining the current spending levels on defense let alone increasing it by 25%.

I smell a big fat lawsuit.
Not a big enough lawsuit to suit me.

The right lawsuit would target the FCC and all of its licensees, not just ABC. That lawsuit would demand damages in the billions of dollars and firm regulation by the FCC of the licensee's in-kind political contributions.

"Journalism" is properly a singular noun. It is singular because you can't be accepted as a journalists unless you accept that all journalists are objective. IOW, all journalists will mercilessly attack anyone who claims to be a journalist but who questions the objectivity of a journalist. That means that although journalism has many organs, journalism has a single viewpoint - the conceit that journalism and the public interest are identical.

That means that "objective journalism" is a political party. It follows that the broadcasting of journalism is political advertising on the government's dime, in violation of the Constitution and campaign finance laws.

Why Broadcast Journalism is
Unnecessary and Illegitimate

But I must be dense because I don't see the proof, and no one has been able to spell it out for me. ...

If you are going to accuse this boy, I want to see the proof. We all know Foley is a sleaze.

Maybe you are dense if you think anybody here is "accusing" this boy. Nobody here is accusing or attacking this boy. The thrust of the article and of the comments on this thread is not that this boy did anything wrong but that the media and the democrats have apparently falsely characterized this as sexual IM contact with a minor or with an underage boy when it now appears at least in this case the boy was 18 at the time Foley sent the emails. That does not make it any less disgusting to people with morals, but it does show the media and the democrats to be liars in addition to being hypocrites with their selective outrage.

So far, it appears that Brian Ross fabricated this from mostly innocuous emails to the 16 year-old-page and mixed it in with the IMs to the eighteen-year-old man to make Foley look more guilty.

It's Rathergate '06. I hope Foley sues their asses off. They've already libelled and slandered him on the Jordan matter since Jordan was of legal age when the cybersex occured.

Glenn Beck is talking with the blogger that broke the story.

Expect Rush to hit this hard. The media so far has ignored Drudge's headline that has been up most of the night.

It's gonna blow. (Not in a Foley way)

Hmmmmm... This is funny. Dems will look like gay bashers. I realy hope they do this. It will backfire just as he Foley thing did.

Activist ready to out 'gay' GOP senator Held info on Foley, has vowed to shake up November election

October 5, 2006; 1:00 a.m. Eastern; WorldNetDaily.com

A radical homosexual activist who claims some of the credit for revealing former Rep. Mark Foley's relationships with underage male pages has warned there is more to come, stating on his website earlier this year he would "out" a "gay" Republican senator during the run-up to the mid-term elections.

"Ladies and Gentlemen ... if they want a cultural war, I'll give them a f------ cultural war. Fasten your seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy 2006," wrote Mike Rogers on his weblog in January – a posting noted by the blog Sweetness & Light

As WND reported, Rogers held on to damaging information about Foley – who abruptly resigned Friday in the wake of revelations – having indicated the story would break just prior to the Nov. 7 congressional elections.

Rogers and another homosexual activist, John Aravosis, developed a "target list" of 20 lawmakers and Capitol Hill staffers they believed were hiding their sexual orientation while promoting an "anti-gay" political agenda. The list included Foley and Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland

Rogers claimed that before the Foley story broke, he shared information about the congressman with Bill Burton, the director of communications for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. WND spoke with a Burton assistant, but the director did not respond to a request for comment.

Foley could file a temporary restraining order against Ross from publishing or discussing anymore about this case if his lawyer can show a judge that he's being slandered or libeled with false information.

There are IMs from before the boy turned 18 (he clearly states this in the logs) that are far from innocent.

A network source explains exchanges with the young man and disgraced former Congressman Foley took place before and after the 18th birthday. MORE... Okay. That would pretty much kill the scoop.

That would depend on the content of the exchanges before the 18th bday compared to the exchanges after the bday.

I'm still wondering why ABC hasn;t been forced to address the issue of why they kept this age issue a secret until now. I mean, we KNOW why, but I'm curious about why no one has pressed them on it.
