Thanks for posting the update. The story simply isn't what ABC first claimed, and that this started when they were kids and continued into the time when they were adults really does change the story.
Right, first we learn that it was IMs, not any actual sex taking place as in the Reynolds/Studds episodes, then we learn the age of consent in D.C. is 16 anyway and now we learn that the page was 18 at the time of IMs. So this scandal has evolved over the last 3 days from a Republican one, to a Democrat one. Pure poetic justice. I mean, it's not as though Foley drove drunk off a bridge into the bay leaving his page trapped in the car to slowly drown, and then tried to cover it up by asking his cousin to take the blame, you know?
Ah there you go, another Kennedy basher! They've suffered soooo much for this country blah blah blah.../sarc.
That's it in a nutshell. The Dems have NOTHING--NOTHING.
They deserve to lose in November. By all history they should gain control of both houses, but they won't because they simply have nothing to offer the American people.
i am waiting for CNN OR MSNBC TO mention the fact that the guy was 18. So far only FOX has said this. How long will it take those creeps to catch up already?! Maybe they will try and hide this forever!
It was new but it existed in 1996 and was really starting to take hold.
In the early 1990s, as people began to spend increasing amounts of time on the Internet, creative software developers designed software that could reproduce some of the aspects of an online service. Chat-room software was developed and set up on Web servers, used by sites like TalkCity.
Instant messaging really exploded on the Internet scene in November 1996. That's when Mirablis, a company founded by four Israeli programmers, introduced ICQ, a free instant-messaging utility that anyone could use.
Source How stuff works
That tag line covers many things. Namely it means just this. If an idea was wrong when Clinton was POTUS then how can it be OK now? Bush will not be POTUS forever and Hillary unfortunately may be our next.
The powers and programs that Bush has called for many of which were ones that should not have been given not because he is George Bush but because they are bad ideas in general. How much more wrong will they be under a DEM house, senate, or POTUS? Many forget that fact.
Would you have supported the Patriot Act for Bill Clinton? Yet you do not know who the next POTUS will be? That is the intent of my tagline. Not bitterness but common sense some persons seem to have tossed aside as of late.
I'm not anti-Republican, I have not ever voted DEM in a state or national office, but I will not vote for someone who does not deserve it because they are from any given party that included the GOP. The last GOP POTUS Candidate I vote for in the general election was Bob Dole. I voted Independent in 2000 & 2004 for POTUS. I voted based on Platform not party. I stand completely against Rockefeller Republicans but I doubt you even understand what that means it means Liberal Republicans.
I saw my state nearly destroyed {literally} by a Republican governor who saw no tax he didn't like nor DEM program he didn't like for that matter. He also supported Hillary Clinton's health care and nearly destroyed the state over that as well. Funny thing was Bush thought the man did a fine job as governor. Sad fact is the DEM who replaced him even though he is a self proclaimed liberal is far more fiscally conservative that Don Sundquist ever was. Phil Bredesen-D was not a person I voted for as I voted for the Republican Candidate who ran against him. But Bredesen is 100% more conservative than Don Sundquist was and I doubt you will find a freeper who will say different comparing those two. Sundquist thankfully was term limited out of office. He was also the target on many FR protest and the Tennessee Tax Revolt.
Well next we will find out ....
In unreported news... The host of Dateline high impact series "To Catch A Predator" recently set up their highly aclaimed pedophile sting operation and cought a Democrat Congressman showing up to have sex with an underage teen. Upon their recognition of the Representative and the fear that the ensuing scandal could impact the 06 elections the NBC host allowed the congressman to escape and all video evidence was destroyed. Story is developing.....
HAHAHA...

I saw this the other day. Don't know why it didn't occur to me to question the "underage page" thing. His birthdate is 2/23/1985
A former congressional page from Karns High School said Wednesday that Rep. Mark Foley sent him sexually suggestive messages after his stint as a page ended a decade ago, according to media reports. Foley, who was a Florida congressman, resigned from office last week amid amid allegations of improper communications with male congressional pages.
Tyson Vivyan, 26, who now lives in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, said Foley began sending him instant messages about a month or two after he was a page.
"The conversations he started were almost sexual in nature. I would try to steer it to things he was doing on [Capitol] Hill," Vivyan said in a telephone interview Wednesday night with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Vivyan told the Atlanta newspaper he and Foley continued corresponding until about a year or two ago. Vivyan said he never told anyone about the contacts because he assumed no other page was involved and he could take care of himself.
Vivyan said after the revelations about Foley broke, he contacted Congress and has been interviewed by an FBI agent in Atlanta.
The National Journal magazine's "Hotline" blog reported:
"Tyson Vivyan, on what he told the FBI: 'I began to describe basically the beginning of what turned out to be an almost surrealistic relationship with Congressman Foley through the instant messaging system online. It began shortly after I left the page program. ... I was I.M.'ed by a screen name which I did not recognize, and almost immediately the conversation turned sexual.'
"Asked how Foley got his IM: 'That's the question at hand. The pages, they're on the Hill, walking around with name tags on that say U.S. House of Representatives page, with our first and last names spelled out completely. And so I can only assume that perhaps, if anyone caught the congressman's eye, he could very easily make note of that individual's name and then through a simple search online, if an individual such as myself decided to use my full name in our chat profile.'"
Vivyan is a 1998 Karns High School graduate, who served as a page in 1996-97 after being nominated by U.S. Rep. Jimmy Cuncan, accoridng to a report posted on television station WVLT's Web site. End of article..
The difference I saw between this article and his interview on TV last night was I heard no claim of ongoing communications. But I was also trying to take down key information at the same time. The person was quite put off by it. I would go more with the interview. For the record Karns High School is in Knox County, Tennessee and under Duncans district.
Agreed. It does make most of the "outrage" of Dems ring hollow, as if anything from them is to be believed.
They have been purposefully obtuse. If this was a Democrat, they would have lectured us on the meaning of the word "is." I still think the whole Foley thing is disgusting and tawdry, but the media and their helpers in both parties (Tony Blankley etc) have become hysterical too soon. Hastert has said some things about this that seem off (referring to taxes???), but I see no need for his head...
I always thought this "Page" deal was stupid. Either make the entry age 21, or get rid of all these little munchkins and give the money to each Congressman to hire his own 21 year old or older Aide-de-camp. You really want underage girls close to Ted Kennedy???????????????????????????
Heh. But of course. Insert wink here.
LOL!
