I was wrong about Hastert: A public apology to Free Republic

Boy, did I put my foot in it.
My initial assessment of House Speaker Dennis Hastert's role in the whole disgusting Foley issue ("The case for Dennis Hastert's resignation...") was way off the mark. In retrospect, I was two steps behind the flow of information and was simply caught flatfooted and premature in my assumptions.
Therefore, I want to apologize to my fellow freepers for casting forth words without counsel. I have learned my lesson, and will be far, far more careful about my research. I throw myself at the mercies of the reader on this issue.
Thank you all for your patient forbearance in dealing with me, and thanks also to those who provided me with more reliable information.

I do it too. Even for seasoned conservatives it's easy to fall into the MSM/Dem spin at times. They can be very convincing.
To: 60Gunner
The lesson here is to not believe the MSM and seek out a number of sources.
Your reaction was exactly what the MSM wanted to elicit in Republicans.

It takes a strong person to publicly admit they were wrong. It refelcts well upon you. We all makes mistakes but not all of us admit it.

Being so close to election day, my response was one of disgust directed at the Republican. It took me a few seconds to remember that the liberal media just lie nowadays in their desperation to regain power. I didn't even bother to read the article.

Speaker Hastert is a patriot and an honorable American. I would bet that he forgives you.

I think this story will backfire on the Dimms. Many will realize they have been had.
Besides, it's not much of a story until and unless Frank resigns and they call back Studds and put him in prison. They I will believe their words.

Ah, what we are watching unfold is John McCain's campaign finance reform. The MSN was handed the power of orchestrating campaigns 60 days before elections and it is in a full blaze.

Now let's hope that the whole rest of the country follows your lead, brother!!!

I think I'm FINALLY learning that if I hear something bad about anything/anyone on the conservative side of an issue, or even a headline in a newspaper, I should ask myself ...
A. Who said it?
B. What are their political leanings?
C. Who benefits?
D. Who does it hurt?
To: Rokke; 60Gunner
Very much a class act.
