The battle between Democratic incumbent Ted Kulongoski and Republican Ron Saxton is essentially a dead heat, according to a new survey by Portland pollster Mike Riley.
The same poll found just over half of likely voters supporting a ballot measure that would require parental notice before minors can have an abortion. It also found a plurality against a proposed state spending limit - although nearly half say they are still undecided. Lastly, support outweighs opposition for a measure to elect appellate judges by district, with 40 percent undecided.
Riley's poll projects an unusually small turnout in November - 55 percent - with fully 61 percent of voters aged 55 or older.

Is this a House race?
Governor.
Wow, the incrubment is really below 50%.
This would be a pickup the GOP did not expect, i think. They need to make up some ground since polls show they will lose several other states, unfortunately.
Kulongoski's approval ratings have been pretty bad for the past couple of years.
WOW.....If Oregon goes Repub with the Governor....this is the beginning of a big change....WOW.
FYI PING
Looks like a GOP pick up here.
There are some interesting trends developing for 2008 and beyond.
Colorado
Nevada
Virginia
Are becoming less GOP and more DEM
meanwhile,
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Oregon
Are becoming more GOP friendly
I believe that Colorado is the next California for the GOP
God willing.....
Go Eastern Oregon.......
So, when a repubbie leads by two points, it is a "dead heat"
When a demo trails by 12 points, he is "Making up ground" and "Governor's lead falls"
Nah. No bias here.
"WOW.....If Oregon goes Repub with the Governor....this is the beginning of a big change....WOW."
we Oregonians are praying it does.....we could use a change from the Lib wacko we have now......

Kulongoski -- raise taxes, hold the kicker for the people of Oregon, raise taces, propose a new mileage tax, raise taxes..........You get the picture, I;m sure.
Check this out -- #9
The Tax issue seems to have some traction even in the Socialist Soviet Republic of Oregon! Time to man the phones for Saxton.
Pray for W and Our Troops
You have to realize that the Repulicans have to lead by enough margin to overcome Democratic ballot cheating.
A two point lead for Repubbies is a dead heat and when a dem trails by 12 he is closing the gap between the actual votes he needs to get and the votes he can cheat.
It's simple math, really.

Believe it when I see it. I am still in the undecided column.
Saxton talks like a slick Portland lawyer (which he is, just like Kulongoski). Lots of big talk, few specifics.
So, the two major parties give us a choice between two slick Portland lawyers, neither with decent pro-life credentials.
I am still leaning to Starret, the only real conservative on the ballot.
I had my misgivings about Saxton. However, from what I understand, he will at least support reasonable restrictions on abortion.
Plus, he has said specifically will stop DMV from issuing drivers licenses to illegal aliens.
Don't waste your vote on Starrett. She's a conspiracy theorist who thinks President Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks beforehand and that the government is tracking people with RFID tags in clothing.
Saxton's not perfect, but he's the best of the choices out there, IMO.
