ARTICLE SNIPPET: "SAN DIEGO – An 83-year-old woman with more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine strapped to her back was arrested as she and two others tried to cross into the United States from Mexico, authorities announced Thursday.
Her companions, a 40-year-old woman who had the same amount of the drug secured to her body, and a 22-year-old man driving the car were also arrested at the border crossing in San Ysidro."

Was Exiled Radical Islamic Cleric Linked to London Bombings?
New information is emerging about exiled radical Islamic cleric Omar Bakri Mohammad and his possible involvement with the deadly London bombings.
The attacks on July 7 2005 killed 52 innocent people in addition to the four suicide bombers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7_July_2005_London_bombings ).
On recordings made of an Islamic discussion group (held nightly on Paltalk.com), answering a question about whether he was linked to the bombings, Bakri for the first time admitted going to Leeds, where two of the London bombers originated.
He also confirmed that the bombers attended talks given by himself, jailed Islamic cleric Abu Hamza, Abu Qatada and Abdullah el-Faisal (http://moise.sefarad.org/belsef.php/id/322 ).
However, following his disclosure and presumably aware that he was being monitored, Bakri said just because he traveled to the area was not an admission that he organized the bombings.
He said, “I wished that I was involved in something great work like this. But I wasn't, so they asked me, ‘do you condemn what they did?’ I said ‘no, how dare I could condemn a mujaheed or somebody I believe ... whose footstep (is) in paradise.’ “I wish if I am, but to claim something you are not, it is not our characters.”
But Bakri again said, “I wish ... I was (involved), but (sic) it is not in a case like this. It is not something to be ashamed about it or something to say is bad. It's something so good to be involved in, but Allah never granted this opportunity yet...”
Banned from the United Kingdom, Bakri lives in Lebanon (www.joyjunction.org/bulletin/forums/showthread.php?t=1418).
Commenting on the Bakri disclosure, British-based investigator Glen Jenvey said by e-mail, “It’s the first confirmed information that shows Bakri visited Leeds — the very area where three of the bombers lived. This was unconfirmed information up until this point.”
As to Bakri’s statement that he and others have been “addressing” the Muslim community for two decades, Jenvey said the Paltalk discussion reveals “that for 20 years fanatics have been preached to by these sick clerics.”
Jenvey also provided a copy of an e-mail he had sent to Britain’s MI5 asking them to monitor the group. It read in part,
“Every night I hear information by British followers of Omar Bakri talking about the USA, and other countries friendly with the USA, in a manner that can only be described as potential terrorism toward the U.S.”
He added, “The name of the group on Paltalk in the Islam section is ‘Al Sabiqoon Al Awwaloon.’ Paltalk have said they will help you. Their policy is to help the authorities with any investigation. Members who use the Paltalk group between 8.30-9.30 to 12.30pm GMT are members of the banned terrorist group Al Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect. They are the offspring of Al Muhajiroun and members of the Supporters of Shariah, a group run by Abu Hamza. If the British security service were to monitor the group’s members, you would in fact be monitoring al-Qaeda U.K. and its links to Pakistan and the mid-east. America comes high in the target list of these users; the members are the real deal.”
Jenvey is preparing to hand his evidence over to authorities, and said he would like nothing better than to see Bakri’s group shut down for good.
The recordings were made by Jenvey and a university professor who Jenvey said wishes to remain anonymous. Both Jenvey and his colleague are members of the international anti-terrorist organization Vigil.
According to Jenvey the professor said the information gleaned from the recordings seems to point to the fact that Hamza, Bakri, Qatada, and Faisal all had strong links to the London bombers.
Jenvey went even further, saying by e-mail that this new evidence confirms a video tape he uncovered, indicating that Bakri knew of the attacks several weeks before they happened. In the video, Bakri was seen warning his members to be careful about commenting on any attacks that might occur in England.
My main concern is and has been the info. that was found concerning maps and other threats to schools since 9/11. I will always keep in my prayers and thoughts the Beslan school...and cannot fathom such vile evil acts. I graduated HS in 1982...uummm...biggest concern was making sure the length of uniform skirt didn't go above the knee...who would ask me to the prom...if my field hockey team would win the next game...if I could borrow the car. Our children are being robbed of their childhood.

APEX, N.C. -- Authorities evacuated Apex residents and closed downtown streets late Thursday after a cloud containing chlorine gas spewed from a volatile industrial fire.
Apex Town Manager Bruce Radford said a leak at the EQ North Carolina plant on Investment Boulevard sent several large plumes of chlorine gas into the air around 9 p.m. A large fire broke out at the plant afterward, with multiple explosions heard nearby.
"This is the worst possible hazardous materials incident you could have," Radford said.

Proving that saliva is able to spread CWD is important, so that scientists next can determine exactly how that happens in the wild, said Richard T. Johnson, a Johns Hopkins University neurology professor who headed a major report on prion science.
"You can move deer out of a pasture, put other deer into the pasture, and they'll come down with the disease. It's not even casual contact, it's contact with the pasture," Johnson said. "It must be something in their secretions."
Is it spread through shared salt licks? Or by drooling onto grass or into streams? Studying environmental contamination by infectious proteins, called prions, that cause CWD is among Hoover's next steps.
"It's very likely they could be shedding a lot of saliva" shortly before death, noted Richard Race, a veterinarian who studies CWD at the National Institutes of Health's Rocky Mountain Laboratories. "Saliva's a good bet."

15,000 people evacuated - chlorine gas - WOW - thanks for posting this Cindy - timely considering there has been government dragging of feet for setting security standards for chemical plants thus far. It ought to be interesting to see how Homeland Security (who is in charge now) handles things now that this has happened. Hoping no one has been injured or killed by this chemical release and feeling much sympathy for those affected by this chemical release.
If ever there were a reason to put up a tall fence, this would definitely qualify.

MURDERED schoolboy Kriss Donald pleaded: "I'm only 15. What did I do?" as he was beaten up and dragged into the back of a car by his abductors, a court heard yesterday.
The witness, Zahid Mohammed, 22, was originally accused of taking part in the murder. He pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow in November 2004 to assault to injury on Kriss and attempting to pervert the course of justice. He was given a five-year jail term and was released on licence on Wednesday after applying for parole...
Imran Shahid, Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq, 27, and Zeeshan Shahid, 29, deny racially aggravated murder.
All three are on trial in Edinburgh, accused of abducting and killing Kriss by striking him with a knife or knives, then setting him on fire on 15 March, 2004.
The advocate-depute, Mark Stewart, QC, asked how successful Kriss was in resisting and Mohammed replied: "Very little."
Mohammed said he had never met him before the incident. He agreed that nothing would have happened if Kriss and his friend had been Chinese, African-American or Asian. He said they were targeted because they were white.

It's as if the police are complicit in guaranteeing this murderer "safety and security." Such "agreements" are what cause disrespect toward police by otherwise law-abiding citizens. Feeling pity for the victim's family and disgust at this police "agreement" with this criminal.
It's a sad situation.

"Cemical leak at Houston refinery sickens dozens"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "HOUSTON (Reuters) - An accidental chemical release from Valero Energy Corp.'s Houston refinery on Wednesday sickened dozens of workers and triggered a warning for nearby residents to evacuate.
A Valero spokesman at the scene said a cloud of sulfur dioxide gas was emitted from the plant, but others said sulfuric acid vapor had escaped.
Alarms sounded at about 9:35 a.m. local time at the Valero refinery, which has 130,000 barrel-per-day throughput capacity. The plant was in the process of shutting down for maintenance.
Fire department officials said 27 people were taken to area hospitals from the plant about six miles east of downtown Houston, and as many as 30 others were being assessed for the effects from the leak."
