What a sweet and thoughtful post. From day one, the posters and contributors to this thread have been nothing but diligent, respectful hard working and very nice to know.
If anyone is so inclined. The following is a link to a FR thread on donations for the Amish families affected by yesterday's tragic events. Most Amish pool their money together through church donations and investments through the church to pay in cash for their medical treatment. They do not have healthcare as we know it, more like a pay as you go plan and a handshake.
I very much understand that sentiment...it happens to me as well...and I take breaks from FR and the news in general at those time...usually work necessitates these breaks for me.
Hegemony Cricket...thank you for this eloquent and powerful post...seriously gave me chills. You have been blessed with a gift in the way that you can write your feelings and thoughts. Thank You!
Thank you for the link.
WE will prevail.
Of that, I have no doubt.
Will send a donation today.

Penn Station Getting Chemical Detection System
NEW YORK -- New York's Penn Station will get a sensor system that detects possible chemical or poison gas attacks.
Transit officials are satisfied with similar equipment at Grand Central Terminal.
The sensors continually suck in air and analyze it for toxins and gases.
Both Penn Station and Grand Central already have radiation monitors and sensors that detect biological threats.

"Official: Man Who Hijacked Turkish Airliner Seeking Political Asylum"
Tuesday, October 03, 2006
AP
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BRINDISI, Italy A Turkish man who commandeered a Turkish Airlines plane to Italy was not protesting Pope Benedict XVI's planned visit to Turkey, but was seeking political asylum, Transport Minister Binali Yildirim said Tuesday.
The minister said the hijacker was seeking to evade military service in his native country. "It has nothing to do with the pope's visit; it was a simple attempt of seeking political asylum under the influence of psychological problems," Yildirim said of the hijacker, Hakan Ekinci, by telephone from Baku, Azerbaijan."

"Police: Amish School Shooter Said He Molested Kids Years Ago"
Tuesday, October 03, 2006
By Liza Porteus
AP
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The milk-truck driver who shot and killed five young girls and himself in a Pennsylvania Amish community this week told his wife minutes before he died that he molested young family members over 20 years ago and that he had been having dreams about molesting again.
Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller, however, told reporters Tuesday they have found no evidence, nor any report, of any such abuse by the gunman, Charles Carl Roberts IV. They also said there was no evidence any of the hostages at the Amish school were sexually abused."
