It has been reported that General Musharraf has written in his book that while Omar Sheikh was at the London School of Economics (LSE), he was recruited by the British intelligence agency MI6, which persuaded him to take an active part in demonstrations against Serbian aggression in Bosnia and even sent him to Kosovo to join the jihad.
At some point, he probably became a rogue or double agent.
The local media is discussing the possibility that Omar would use evidence from President Musharraf’s memoirs to save himself from the hangman.
General Musharraf appeared to exonerate Omar Sheikh in his book In the Line of Fire.
Sheikh, 32, who was brought up in Wanstead, east London, has been on death row since 2003 after being convicted of orchestrating the kidnap and murder of the Wall Street Journal reporter.
The Times, which is carrying extracts of Musharraf autobiography has reported that General Musharraf appears to have changed his mind about the Briton’s guilt, saying he now believes that the man who beheaded the American hostage was Khalid Sheikh Mohamed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

Musharaff is a liar. Daniel Pearl was killed becasue he discovered the connections between AQ, ISI, and Musharaff. It is generally thought that Omar Sheikh (Pearl's killer) was actually protected at ISI safe houses until their existence became an open secret (and an embarassment to Mushy).
I remember the two of you were having a spirited disucssion on this point a few days ago. Thought you might be interested in seeing this thread.
For the record - I don't believe a word of what Musharaff writes in his book. He is a liar and a crook.
This is the second "factoid" from Musharaff's book that doesn't seem to hold water. 'twould be interesting who wrote it and what their game is.
Seems like everything Musharraf has written is a like. Makes me wonder if Clinton has launched a career as a ghostwriter.

Simon and Schuster probably told Musharraf that they would only give him the million dollars for the book if he jinned up the sales by embellishing or outright lying about certain things that Democrats would love to read.
Musharuff seems to be going a little crazy, though that could help his popularity in Pakistan and reduce the amount of assassination attempts.
