So, this correction appears in the Martinsville Bulletin.
When will it appear on ABC, with a full retraction and apology?
Allowed or not, I'll tell you this, no way I'd be driving a rig without a full auto in the cab and a few revolvers too.
I think its crazy to expect someone to be driving in that situation without a weapon.
Also, this occurred one year ago.
I saw the video on tv. Oh, yeah, scared but never stops taping and he sure is using it now for his 15 minutes of fame to insult our military. Jerk!
More info. Military did their job!
The Army investigation is a lie. I was at the base that convoy was heading to, Camp McKenzie, now closed. The Army escorts DID NOT FIRE BACK! They pulled their crew served weapons into their armored Humvees and waited for the QRF to arrive. One of the Sergeants in the QRF told me this and it was corroborated by several other NCO's on the QRF. The Army convoy commander had never been to McKenzie and got lost. There is a cardinal rule when heading to McKenzie, "Never turn south onto the Al Jabouri Peninsula". There is no place to turn around, it's a dead end and it's full of Sunni insurgents. Nobody at McKenzie, either KBR or the Army knew this convoy was coming! If that had been known, the Army unit stationed there would have been in the town, guiding them through and providing a protective overwatch. The name of the town is not Samarra, it's Ad Duluiyah and it's a hell hole. Don't blame Halliburton or KBR, they go where the Army tells them to go. Blame poor leadership and incompetence on the Army's part. Halliburton and KBR care deeply about their employees. The KBR driver at the rear without a trailer was driving up and down the road trying to distract and run over any insurgents attacking his convoy. You want a hero? He's the one.

The military investigation found that individuals at the front of the convoy reacted as they were taught by pushing forward and getting out of the kill zone of the ambush, Martin-Hing wrote.
I was just guessing (non-military), but it looks like I was right. God Bless our TROOPS.
More than a little harsh I'd say.
I saw that video. And from the "whiner's" prespective, the convey DID drive off and (seemingly) leave him.
And it WAS the escorts who made a wrong turn and lead the trucks through a hostile neighborhood into a dead end by the way.
And he WAS shot twice in the shoulder on their way back through that neighborhood where they were ready and waiting.
And he DID see two of the drivers ( possibly friends) dragged from their trucks, murdered before his eyes, stripped and their bodies stoned.
And He DID believe he was next and had only minutes to live.
"Whiner", huh.
I guess you'd have been all calm and collected under the same circumstances.
Hmmm. If suppressive fire was laid on then how did the jihadis close on the convoy to kill two drivers at point blank range and then why were the drivers unarmed in a combat zone? I am NOT saying I'm on the side of the 'whiner' but to me it is obvious there are still some questions that should be answered.
That is good information to know, which is why it will never get full play in the MSM. I guess the Geneva Convention protections didn't count for the Halliburton guys. Paging Sen. McCain ...
The Army screws up like that a bunch, don't kid yourself.
So much for the idea that the convoy was carrying essential supplies that couldn't wait until a battle was over.
BTW I saw a number of the drivers on C-SPAN. None of them appeared to be a "whiner".
Stay safe on your trip from the airport to the intl zone!
Thank you, I was sickened by that whiner too.
I did hear, on Rush this morning, that all the civilian workers there (ours) are FORBIDDEN to be armed by the Geneva Convention. They cannot even be armed!! Makes me sick to my stomach.
I'm retired military, looks like to me from what I see and heard the driver of the truck should find the hummer driver and kick his ass. He was unarmed and they were armed, it's that simple. Looked like cowardness in the field of battle.
