>>Resignation does not equal accepting culpability

Right. Foley resigned because he is innocent or, as he lied on the floor of the US House of Representives today, he resigned so he could take care of his aging parents.

Give me a break or take a deep breath of reality. BTW, your friend "dog" already said he thought he was "guilty." Don't take my word for it, read his posts...

OK, honestly now, why would you believe a Nightline report? And you don't think a former page might come out and make a bad situation even worse by embellishing the story about what the republicans knew especially if he's getting asttention and love from the media?

It's going to be ugly if we assume that everything the media says about this is true. I'm not willing to give the media that level of trust, especially when it comes to the "What did they know and when did they know it" kind of charge. It's easy to see why the media would find people to lie about that aspect of it, even if the sexual allegations are entirely true.

Congressman talking dirty to a teenager? Scandal, but nothing they can pin on the Repubs in general. Other Congressmen knowing about it and doing nothing? Huge election-deciding scandal so juicy that people would lie about it just to make it more damning. That's exactly why we of all people should not jump to conclusions when the Republicans haven't even had a chance to speak on this yet.

I believe I saw Foley recently on John Walsh's America's Most Wanted program, and John was praising him to the hilt.

OK pal, you be his apologist.

I'm apologizing for nobody.

And prepare to live with the results of your viewpoints.

I'm perfectly willing to say that he should not be condemned by anybody before there is proof.

Maybe you should read the texts of his five (so-far) emails. Tell me he isn't a pevert.

I've read them. However, you A. Know they are real? You don't know for sure. Electronic things can be faked. B. Know he sent them? Emails don't have fingerprints. C. You know a 16 year-old recieved them? And that he intended for a 16 year-old to recieve them? You don't know that.

You seem to be having trouble with a very simple problem: proof.

I'll make this clear once more, although you seem to just want to argue and seem to overlook whatever I say anyway in an attempt to get what you want out of it:

I BELIEVE FOLEY IS GUILTY. I don't think he would have resigned if he wasn't, and there were rumors before that. But until there is something a bit more substantial then what we have, which is an incomplete, one-sided story, it would be totally out of line for someone in Blunt's position to just assume guilt and condemn him.

Get lost.

Aww, did I upset you?

Anyhow, I'll leave whenever I damn well please.

Goodnight.

You need to re-read his posts and note the distinction he made concerning what he thought was likely and what we actually know to be true.

I find it amazing that people can't see why an innocent man would resign. It's been done before, even by our side of the aisle.

Thank God we have the Bill of Rights and vigilante justice is a thing of the past.

I'm hearing that the GOP will have to field a write-in candidate.

I agree with your comments 100%.

This "wishing well" is crapola. He should be shunned and spurned. And maybe even prosecuted if any laws were broken. How the Republicans deal with this is going to be very telling. Are they going to circle around and cover up for him, as is likely some have done already?

The RNC keeps sending me stuff asking for money. I need to write them back and tell them why I won't. Wishing sick perverts well is one good reason.

He didn't say when, but he was older, like maybe 20.

UGH is right.

Why don't you and some of your friends around here take five minutes to read some of Mr. Foley's communications with minor boys? Then come back here and defend him.
Go, ahead, we'll wait for you.

ABC transcripts of a few of Foley's emails

Can someone refresh my memory but I could have sworn I'd heard Rush mention a couple of months ago that there was a rumor of a House sex scandal that was going to break late this summer. Does anyone else remember hearing this?

I'm pretty sure that was a different scandal. I think Rush was referring to the allegations that the guys who bribed Duke Cunningham were also providing whores for some of the congress critters. That purported 'scandal' seems to have gone nowhere though.

You entirely missed his point that those things can be easily faked. He made it plain as day.

He's not 'missing the point', I've answered every single point he's made several times and he just ignores them.

He's on a crusade and facts aren't getting in his way.

Just ignore him.

Yeah, just like the Easter bunny huh? Fake. Yeah.

The only thing phoney around here are those who apologize for perverts who molest children under the guise of liberal conspiracy theories or who want to wait for "courts to decide" innocence or guilt.
Are you conservative or liberal? Do you believe in God?

According to Nightline, they've know for quite a while; they had a guy on who use to be a page and he said that when they first came in to training, they were WARNED about Foley.

This makes me furious!

With all the support we give them, I think the least we should be able to expect is for them to not keep a pervert POS around allowing us to be sandbagged and screw up an election.

When they knew he was a problem, he should have been gone IMMEDIATELY. If it happened to be just before an election, so be it. But to allow this to hang out there to bite us later, is just unspeakable.

I want everyone who knew to resign in disgrace tomorrow. I don't care if we lose the whole damn thing.

That's easy for you to say as a private citizen. The intelligent thing for someone in the Republican politician position is to wait for the facts. It would have been entirely inappropriate to do anything but wish him well until the facts are known.

'And that goes back to us rushing to judge the situation. Do you even know what the well-wisher knew about the situation when he wished him well? OF course not. None of us do. It's amazing how some people are able to read minds here.

A lot of people quite strangly seem to have missed the point that Foley resigned instantly at the mere hint that these reports were gonna hit the media. That doesn't happen over fakes....

I think that the way this is going to break wide open (because the Democrats are already demanding an investigation into how long they knew and what they did) we probably will lose the House.

It's amazing how some people are able to read minds here.

If I was accused of being a pedophile....and it was not true, I would be on every talk show shouting my innocence from the rooftops and looking for someone to sue !

This isn't skimming some money from the campaign chest scandal....this reaches down to the very fiber of being. And you defend that to the death.
