FLORIDA NEEDS TAX RELIEF

TAMPA, FL— Congresswoman Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate for United States Senate launched a targeted effort this morning to inform Florida voters of how Bill Nelson has worked against tax relief for our families and businesses. Standing in front of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, Katherine Harris reminds voters that she is the only candidate in this race who will fight to reduce taxes and government spending so that people can keep more of their hard-earned money.

“My opponent has voted against tax cuts time and time again, opting to funnel more of our wages to a bloated federal government. When I am Florida’s next U.S. Senator, I will vote to cut taxes and confront wasteful spending through a fair tax system.”

Bill Nelson has a record of preventing income taxes from being lowered, he has voted against marriage penalty tax relief, and he has earned the title “Enemy of the Taxpayer” by the National Taxpayer’s Union. Our opponent has even voted against tax credits for small business owners to purchase health insurance for their employees and against legislation aimed at eliminating the onerous tax on Social Security.

Katherine Harris, the Republican Candidate for the United States Senate, currently serves as the Representative for Florida’s 13th Congressional District. After receiving a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, she continued a distinguished career in public service to her native state that began in the State Senate and as Florida’s last elected Secretary of State. She resides in Longboat Key with her husband Anders Ebbeson and his 24-year-old daughter, Louise along with the constituents of District thirteen.

We have to be honest and face facts. Nelson is VERY well seated and has the option of phoning in this race from a vaction spot in the bahamas. It is his to loose.

So tell me why did Nelson hastily agree to debate her then. Or why the minute she won the primary, Nelson attended a fundraiser at some lib's residence.

I think Nelson is concerned because he knows that all of the FL media hit pieces on Harris has energized conservatives, plus the fact that top Republicans are now going to bat for her.

Yawn. Show me a single GOP candidate who has not gotten up and sworn on a stack of Bibles that once they are in Washington they will take a meat cleaver to government spending. Now show me what Harris has done in her two terms in Congress to do just that. Some example where she turned down pork for her district would help.

As proof of growing support for Congresswoman Katherine Harris, she received a warm endorsement from President George W. Bush at two events yesterday, in Tampa and Orlando. President Bush stated that he was “proud” to be at the Tampa event with Congresswoman Katherine Harris, and later in the day, Governor Jeb Bush offered his support once again.

Do you remember what President Bush and Governer Bush were doing when they 'warmly endorsed' Harris? They were at fund raisers, a $2 million fund raiser, if memory serves, for the candidate for governor and a fund raiser for some Orlando congressional candidate. They didn't raise dollar one for her that day. In the mean time Harris is scrambling for money. So as soon as the President and the Governor throw a multi-million dollar fund raiser for her then I'll believe that they are behind her candidacy.

I hope you are correct. I will be voting for her.

I think he accepted fast to show he has no fear of her and the clip any "he will not debate me" commercials.

By bending like the willow he takes away any media exposure opportunities.

addendum: Look at it from Nelson's advantage. What does he have to gain by debating her. By agreeing quickly he eliminates any build up.

He eliminates any "will there be debates" anticipation.

This keeps the PR down, and since few will watch the debates then few will be swayed by them.

Now it just comes to her performance.

She needs face time in front of the cameras. She can use the recent Massachusets decision legalizing homosexual marriage in RI (yes I know it is a bit confusing but it just happened b/c two RI homosexuals went to Mass and a judge said they could marry in Mass.) To say she supports the Federal Marriage Amendment. She could blast the civil unions BS.

She has to have a very PUBLIC take no prisoners, no redeployment surrender attitude.

The Dems' treatment of her is one of the reasons I voted for Bush in 2004, and will never vote Dem again.

My above post was in reference to her appearance, makeup and attire during the 2000 Election. It was horrible how they treated her. I voted for Gore and was disgusted.

Given the fact bush owes his presidency to her you think a little more gratitude.

Nice. It's President Bush. Maybe try and spell his name with a capital B.

Owes his presidency to her? Go away, troll.

Yes...she steadfastly followed Florida's election laws despite the hate campaign waged against her by Gore & his media cohorts!

She's a tough campaigner and she deserves our support because we all need her conservative vote in the Senate...

And a little research will show that attacking conservatives based on their looks is a standard page out of the DIMs playbook.

When Bill McCollum was running for Senator a friend of mine continuously ripped him for his "Howdy Doody" looks. Never once did he criticize anything but his looks.

I see it as just another variation on their ad hominum style of attack.

I'm hardly a troll(i'm not saying she stole the election einstein), and bush does owe his presidency to her. If a democrat secretary of state had been in place, do you honestly think they wouldn't have pulled a washington?

They stole the election in Washington because a democrat governor came really close, and they just recounted until they got their result, and that was that. There is no doubt in my mind dems would have pulled the same s#@t.
