It's disgusting what passes for movies these days. The days of epic films are gone forever.

"Jackass 2" was already on Fox News over the weekend? The Bill Clinton interview....

Good for him.

I was in the Mammoth/Bishop area last weekend with my two oldest boys; I had in mind maybe to catch a movie (hoping for "Fearless").

Four screens, NOTHING to choose. Jackass 2, and I forget what else.

Admire this guy's stand.

Sounds like excuse mongering to me. He's only got two screens to fill, it's not that hard to put something good on them. Sure maybe Jackass 2 doesn't deserve his sound system but what about Flyboys? Invincible? The Illusionist?

I really admire someone who's willing to take a stand when it's likey to have an adverse effect on him personally. I say good for him!

While I would usually agree with this guys stand, I went to the movies last night and we saw The Illusionist. It was a great movie - no gratuitous sex and violence - a great plot with a great twist ending, beautifully acted and filmed. A rare treat nowdays. This is a movie that could have been made back in the Golden Years of Hollywood.

Jeffrey Harharwood is behind this, no doubt.

Well done. That said, it's way past time for more wealthy cultural conservatives to put their money where their mouth is and make some DECENT MOVIES. It's not as if there's not a huge market for them!!

I'd much rather see him get a print of a film classic and run that. Maybe this isn't possible, but imagine this lobby sign:

Today's Hollywood product is simply dreadful, so we are proud to present "Dr. Zhivago." We hope you will enjoy the film, and join us next week for "Casablanca."

Every couple of years it seems I need a repeat of 'check out what the movie is about prior to seeing it' Lesson.

It was about a month ago, and we wanted to take the kids to a drive-in theatre while on vacation. The main facet of the evening was the drive-in experience, rather than the movie. Kids wanted 'Taledega nights', and the only other choice was Cars. What a MISTAKE that was! YECCHH! RETCHHHH!

There is an alternative - he could re-run films of the past. A few weeks of films from the 1940's and 1950's would do no harm.

Why can't hollywood, with multi-million dollar budgets produce a movie that is simply entertaining? Are writers simply out of ideas? The last movie i saw at a theatre was "The Day After Tomorrow".From the previews on TV i assumed it was worth watching.Disappointing.Last night i lucked out and saw "Seige(?)of Firebase Gloria".Starring everyones favorite gunny.Anyways,it's simply an entertaining movie.Made on a shoestring budget,w/o the high priced primadonna actors hollyweird shoves down our throats.

While I respect his position, I think he should have made his case even more pronounced - He should have run some classics like Breakfast at Tiffany's, Casablanca - even My Fair Lady!! Anything from the 30s to around the early 70s would be better than the current dreck posing as Hollwierd's latest fare.
