JERUSALEM – A Jewish man removed by Israeli police from a key section of the Western Wall for blowing the shofar, or ceremonial ram's horn, during prayer services for last weekend's Rosh Hashana high holiday has been barred from the holy site for the upcoming Jewish holidays, WND has learned.

The shofar traditionally is blown hundreds of times during Rosh Hashana prayers.

Shmulik Ben Ruby, a spokesman for the Jerusalem Police Authority, told WND the Jewish man, 19-year-old Jerusalem resident Eliyahi Kleiman, was taken forcibly from the Western Wall last weekend for fear the sound of the shofar would offend nearby Muslims congregating on the Temple Mount, which is opposite the wall.

"Hundreds of Muslims went up to the Temple Mount. In order to prevent any tensions between the two sides, we asked Kleiman to stop blowing the shofar," Ben Ruby said. "He continued and so he was removed and detained."

Let me see if I've got this right... In order not to "offend" the muslims, Jews are not allowed to blow the Shofar during Rosh Hashana services? And it's the Israeli government that's stopping it? The Israeli government, or the Jerusalem PD decided to ban the blowing of the Shofar? That's actually a COMMANDMENT, and it's the responsibility of every Jew to hear the Shofar on Rosh Hashana nad Yom Kippur! In Leviticus, the Bible clearly states "Then you shall transmit a blast on the horn; in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, the day of Yom Kippur, you shall have the horn sounded throughout the land...And proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof."

Well Mr. Ben Ruby, if you just kill all the Jews in Jerusalem, you won't have any problems! That's one way to ensure that you don't offend any muslims!

Blowing the Shofar at the Western Wall before the State of Israel was founded could easily find the "blower" murdered by arabs. Great Britian outlawed it while they were in charge. It's good to know that the current Israeli government is carrying on the grand tradition! Un-effin-Believable!

Don't be stupid. This guy wasn't in services, he was outside, at the Kotel, blowing his silly shofar. There certainly isn't a religious requirement (let alone a "Commandment") that you drive up to the Kotel and blow anything there. This guy was being a jerk and a nuissance and the police took him away. The idea that Jewish services are being restricted by us evil Israelis is nuts.
