Really, a joke about the annihilation of a race isn't funny.

Your right. Wiping out infidels is no laughing matter.

The new episodes have a cat named Bashir. (a doctor, not a redshirt)

Actually, I always thought the Cardassians as a race were intended to be quasi-arab. Just look at the DS9 story arc. They are fascist state run by an absolute dictator. They are oppressing and attempting to destroy a very spiritual, but fierce people, the Bajorans (think Israel). Their homeworld has many deserts and they prefer the heat. Their ships even have Egyptian-looking architecture in them.

So there are arabs on Star Trek, it's just that they're the badguys...

"Those old bombsight poopers are considered modern "plumbing" today."

Interesting that you know that, a Cornell study from almost 40 years ago said that the toilet should be about 9 inches or less off the floor, it also recommended urinals for homes.

Instead we went in the opposite direction and created even higher, handicapped toilets for public bathrooms.

Oh, geez.

A murderous death cult has nothing to with race.

BTW, they're not Arabs.

It does have something to do with the races, since those of some adopt this death cult and identify it with being "Arab."

However, the above joke is about the anihillation of a race (or races). That is not something to humorously accept.

At the risk of outing myself as a Trekkie nerd....Sulu was Japanese, not Chinese.

But still funny.

Maybe this dude need to have his son read, "A Canticle for Liebowitz". Great book about nuclear holocaust and mankinds revitalization after the Dark Ages that follow Global Nuclear War.

Of course there's the Wandering Jew and the Christian Monks who build the space ships when "Lucifer Rises!"

Maybe Ahab the Ayrab might not like the book.

Remember "The right stuff" and Scott Glenn doing the "Jose Jimenez" astronaut gig?

Neither: it's an old classic joke that's been told with a variety of presidents and Arab countries ambassadors. I think I first heard it when Star Trek first released in syndication, but it may date to when it was first aired. I must admit, I've not heard the illiterate version with a Persian inquiring about the lack of Arabs.

Well, I have to assume they will be dead and not have to put up with the foul stench of muhammed.

What's wrong with being a Trekkie? Those of us who are old enough to have seen the original series enjoyed it very much... most of us, anyway.
BTW, Sulu was gay? Never knew!

Alexandder Siddig. He played Kalid Sheik Mohammed in "The Hamburg Cell", and Saladin's second in command in "Kingdom of Heaven". He was great on DS 9.

Don't forget Indian (as in India). Lieutenant Ilia in the first Star Trek movie was played by Persis Khambatta.
