It doesn't sound like there's any there there.

So when Janet Reno, a Florida lesbian, wants to lower the age of consent to 12 or something, that is ok with Florida Democrats, but now a friendly email from a former Congressional employer is suspect.

Is the Liberal party now planting fresh faces in the congressional pool, hoping to win with sexual innuendo?
If you'd asked me yesterday I'd have said it was impossible...

This is ok, if, say, a gay Congressman from Massachusetts (Studds) does it. Also, Barney Frank's boy-toy ran a homo-hooker ring out of his house. But you know, Republicans asking for photos of boys is sick, sick, sick!

Regardless of the facts, lets talk about the seriousness of the charge!
Hat tip to Dan Rather for the above quote!

I don't see anything "sick" in the Congressman's words. Unless the boy has inappropriate actions to report, it seems he's overwrought over nothing.

1. He's gay.
2. He likes the young boys.
Now that we've established the points of the story, we can discuss facts as they stand. Someone start us off.

Strange that this is Foley because every time I see him on TV a get a little shiver down my back.

Hi All-
It is almost worth NOT having anything to do with kids that aren't your children, nieces, or nephews.

Elizabeth Nicolson, Foley's Chief of Staff, said they believe the e-mail exchange began when the page asked Foley for a recommendation So the kid started it off. Smells like a set up to me.

This could be nothing or it could be something, we just don't know at this point. If this guy is a sicko, I expect something more will come to the surface before election day. .Last I heard, he had about a 12-15 point lead in this election.

Boy am I ever glad some of my 'early alert' emails were never published globally when I was a newbie in the work world. Some were insightful and on the money, others completely erroneous, and there were even smatterings of complete fantasy--imagined and created from all the television I watch and books I read.
Needless to say, there was major politics involved in publishing on a local, national, and global level regarding the email no matter what the motives of Foley.

Imho, the RNC should dig deep into the punk's life. Maybe expose a few escapades of the type that will limit his career options.

Got news for you folks. If this Congressman said such things to a 16 year old (male, at that), there's one HELL of a lot to it. Wake up.

Standard procedure in my university's Dean's Office when asking for a reference to a master's program, job, etc.
Also many colleges take pictures of students for the class role. It's easier to remember a face.
