Paraphrasing tonite's news story:
"The Dow Jones Industrial reached a high point today not seen since the Clinton boom, which was followed by a massive recession that took place at the start of the Bush administration. Analysts say, however, that the long-term outlook for the economy at this point still appears bleak...."
Where we were 7 years ago was a mirage.
The reason you've lost money in the market (as everyone else has experienced at one time or another) is that you've mastered the ability to buy high and sell low. Its easy to do, as no one wants to buy anything when the market is in the tank, but they all come out of the woodwork when the market is booming. In the late 90's, that was a prescription for disaster as they were buying everything, including companies with no real value.
Economic and financial predictions from liberals in the media and Democrat politicians are the single most useful and consistent contrary indicators of economic outlook that I have found. I reached financial independence early in life partly by thoroughly researching the opposite of tactics offered by liberals and acting to capitalize on their poor judgment.
I give partial credit to Democrats and their ignorance of the real world, together with hard work, for making it possible to retire from the rat race while still in my 40's. Nevertheless, the Democrats and their concubines in the media do a great disservice to the USA by discouraging the aspirations of millions of Americans by unfairly reporting the true state of our economy simply for personal political gain.
Are you trying somehow to claim that the current economic performance cannot be bettered - and by quite a bit?? There are MANY economic studies that show just the opposite ... that the FairTax will greatly benefit most taxpayers and greatly boost the economic activity of the country.
Nor have you ever been able to provide any definitive studies that show otherwise ... merely your own opinion.
Any poster interested in becoming informed may either read the bill itself or go to the FairTax website which has a wealth of information available.
Yeah...$10 million in cash sitting in CDs that are at 5.50% or 5.60% APY brings in about $385K/yr after taxes...a little better than the yield of Treasuries right now. Yeah, I know FDIC only covers $100K, but it's not like Aaa-rated banks are gonna go belly-up overnight. Florida has no state income tax, which is sweet. I could live off the interest forever, and never touch the principal. I was thinking of an index fund...it's as good as anything in stock funds right now, IMHO. Int'l is doing well, but can be volatile depending on world events. Guess I'm more interested at this point in conserving capital than making a killing in the stock market.
An outrage. And Doddball actually has the gonads to put his name up for 2008.
No doubt in my mind about that, you're absolutely right.
But if the Democrats take even one house of Congress this next election they will block any further tax cuts, and if a Dem wins the White House in 08 the Bush cuts will be repealed in 09 unless the Republicans can hold onto at least one house. The next two national elections will be very critical in more ways than just the WOT.
Celebratory bump!
Looks like something happened around 1980 to light the afterburners, and then again in 1994 -- anyone? anyone?
Hey! That fits perfectly!!!
This is DEFINITELY NOT in The DemonRat PLAYBOOK!I was in VA./NC.over the wekkend.Gas was as low as $2.19.I'm sure it's lower now!!This is NOT helping The DemonRats in their quest to wrest power away from those Wascally WePublicans!!!!!!!!!!!
That's right!Klintoon said it over and over again in 1992,and he was NEVER challenged by The MSM!"This Is The Worst Economy In 50-Years"!!!!Over and Over and Over and Over.........................................
If you take away the Nasdaq bubble of 1999-2000, there is a definite upward trajectory.
I purchased gas for $1.99 a gallon 2 days ago. It felt so good!! ;o)
Thailand?
