Can you change the body of my thread to read "54" beside Cantwell's name? Sorry, it was a typo.

I thought the tide was turning (maybe not in commie washington) but elsewhere. Yet the only polls I've seen other than for CA gov has the Pubbies down in double digits.

Is it really possible so many in this country have a death wish or want to convert to Islam?

I am not optimistic about the election. I don't think that the Democrats will have the nerve to carry through with their threats to cut funding to the war in Iraq, though. My guess is that they are letting the known wing nuts carry the water for the rest of the party, to keep the rest of the wing nuts excited for the win.

I do think that they will try to impeach Bush, though, just to keep the left wing nuts happy for '08.

Not sure McGavick can recover conservative support, but he's been sounding a bit better lately.

Since this is a liberal skewed survey USA poll, rasmussen poll showed the race had tightened, surely this seat is not a give way, the gap can be closed with some campaigning.

Democrats 43 percent
Republicans 34 percent

I like the way they (SurveyUSA) samples. They basically admit that their own poll is useless.

Cantwell might be ahead by a few points now. At most four. McGavick will win. He has the issues, momentum and the money needed to win.

Cantwell, won't do well in the debate(s). And McGavick will take the lead for good.

This poll is weak, only about half are 'likely voters' it is likely that Cantwell's lead is more like five points.

The polls are indeed bogus. Was talking to a Blackwell official today who had some inside knowledge of Rasmussen---said that Ras, for whatever reason, had drastically oversampled Dems. I think that's the case with all of them. But it's not a question of "whether," perhaps only of "why."

It's more of a death wish for the country. They would gladly trade their children's future for the creature comforts they imagine the resurgent Dems will lavish upon them. I'm reminded of a story in 2 Kings:

Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah: "Hear the word of the LORD: The time is coming when all that is in your house, and everything that your fathers have stored up until this day, shall be carried off to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD. Some of your own bodily descendants shall be taken and made servants in the palace of the king of Babylon."

Hezekiah replied to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is favorable." For he thought, "There will be peace and security in my lifetime."

I know very little of Washingon politics, except for the recent governor race where they kept counting until the Democratic won (Poor Al Gore). What is the feeling about Cantwell, who apparently made her fortune in high tech? Also, what issues does McGavrick have with conservatives?

You're probably right, but it shows two things to me. McGavick is going North, that's a good thing.

It also shows McGavick needs to work harder in the 4th & 5th Congressional districts or he's toast. That should be his bread and butter, but he's weaker there than what he'll need to prevail against lousy assed Maria.

Washington is a blue state, hence the reason why they would have more Democrats than Republicans.

You wouldn't expect a poll of Kansas or Utah to have equal numbers of Dems and Reps, so why would you expect one of Washington to do so? Party ID is a changing statistic within groups of people; you can't expect every state to have an equal number of partisans from each side.

By the way, for comparison the last Survey USA poll here which had Cantwell up 17 had 41 percent Rats and 31 percent Republicans.
