It looks as if immigrants youths want to turn nightly rioting during the Islamic holy month of ramadan into an annual tradition. Around 8:30pm last night violence erupted again in Brussels, the capital of Europe. The riots centered on the Brussels Marollen quarter and the area near the Midi Train Station, where the international trains from London and Paris arrive. Youths threw stones at passing people and cars, windows of parked cars were smashed, bus shelters were demolished, cars were set ablaze, a youth club was arsoned and a shop was looted. Two molotov cocktails were thrown into St.Peters hospital, one of the main hospitals of central Brussels. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fires at the hospital, but youths managed to steal the keys of the fire engine.
During the month of ramadan Muslims are required to fast during the day and are only allowed to eat after sunset. As Esther pointed out What should be noticed about the riots is that they start after sunset. Besides the fact that they start after dark, it also gives the rioters enough time to break their fast and enjoy the traditional family meal. Sunset is around 7:30pm. Tuesdays and Mondays riots began around 8:30pm.
Last night the police arrested 45 rioters. One of them will be prosecuted for assaulting the owner of a shop. Philippe Close, the chef de cabinet of the Mayor of Brussels, Freddy Thielemans, said that the authorities would continue their efforts to defuse the situation in a peaceful manner, but he announced that the police will be less complacent in future, since we cannot tolerate that this [Marollen] neighbourhood falls victim to a problem from outside the neighbourhood.
The immigrant youths claim that they are upset by the death of Fayçal Chaaban, a 25-year old criminal, in a Brussels prison last Sunday. Yesterday morning the authorities announced they would hold a meeting with the youths to hear their grievances about security in prison, but the meeting, which was due last night, could not take place because of the riots.
The authorities are especially nervous since the Belgian municipal elections are being held on Sunday October 8th. It is likely that the elections will be won by anti-immigrant, islamophobic parties. Since ramadan will not be over on October 8th and many immigrants might perceive a victory of the indigenous right (as opposed to their own far-right) as an insult, Muslim indignation over the election results in major cities may spark serious disturbances. According to a poll published today the Vlaams Belang party is set to win 38.6% of the vote in Antwerp (compared to 33,0% in the previous municipal elections six years ago).

Yup. I think the pope should apologize.
Don't you just love the "Holiday Season"?...............
Know Islam: No Peace.
No Islam: Know peace.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's just the festivities of RAMADAMADINGDONG.
That's its nickname because most of the EU administration is done there.
I don't know what the big deal is. This kind of thing always happens around here during Lent. There is so much smoke from the fires that, by the time the 40 days have passed, you don't even notice it anymore. On Sundays and at the end of any services held during the week, our good priest reminds us to keep the fast, and then sends us on our way with a hearty, "Burn, baby, burn!"
wake up! wake up! the Muslims are coming.....
It seems that the authorities are more concerned with negotiating with these thugs, and less concerned with the safety of their citizens. I wonder how much longer it's going to be before America needs to go over to Europe and bail them out again.
Not necessarily.
The U.S. is in the minority in regards to jus soli, the concept of citizenship determined solely by place of birth. (Incorrectly, IMHO, as citizenship determined solely by place of birth completely ignores the original intent of the "jurisdiction thereof" clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. As a case in point, Native American Indians did not receive full citizenship by birth until the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 was passed.)
In Europe, you are not a citizen of the country of your birth simply because you were born on European soil.
Access to citizenship : A comparison of twenty five nationality laws
I wonder if they have songs like The Twelve Days of Chrismas and Jingle Bells to sing while rioting?
"The last time some tried to answer this question, it wasn't pretty..."
Huge difference, and intellectually dishonest on your part. Jews were cast as the enemy within by a man who was as evil as any who ever drew a breath. However, the Jews did nothing other than contribute and be successful, maybe too successful?
muslims, on the other hand, are filled with hostility. Riots, crime, and constant attempts to bend society to their will. Most of their attempts to bend society involve violence and coercion.
Removing or somehow controlling these animals is critical for Europe's survival. It won't happen, and Europe will fall. Take that to the bank.
Third night? I didn't even know they were rioting. Ya gotta love the lsm...
Nobody !!!!!
....expects the spanish inquisition.
It is the Capitol of "Festering Eurabia" at this point..
"Yesterday morning the authorities announced they would hold a meeting with the youths to hear their grievances..."
geez...
"I wonder how much longer it's going to be before America needs to go over to Europe and bail them out again."
America won't be able to save their butts this time. There will be nothing to save. America needs to be concerned about saving America.
The muslims will intimidate their way to power in European nations. Once they are duly "elected", how can you save a country from itself?
Use a couple of these as street sweepers. Enough appeasement of the "religion of peace". If they want to riot, they can do it elsewhere.
