BAGHDAD, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein was expelled from the courtroom for the second hearing in a row on Monday after the new chief judge dismissed his request to be allowed out of the metal pen where defendants must sit."I have a request here that I don't want to be in this cage any more," he said, waving a yellow paper. "Get him out," the judge ordered court guards.

Too bad those guys didn't just drop a grenade down that hole.
Sure would have been less trouble. Then they should have filled in the hole and never mentioned it again.
Hooray for this new judge.
Cooool! A judge who finally has a spine...
No way!
Saw the limbs off the son-of-a-bitch, pack em in salt, bury him up to the neck and let the Iraqis stone him to death.
And...televise it.
put him in a soundproof glass box like they did with Eichmann and let him jaw without interruption.
This is the 2nd of a series of trials. The first had to do with murdering Sunnis, this one has to do with using WMD (ahem!, "WMD") to commit genocide aganst the Kurds of the Hallabjah area, the next trial will be about his crimes against the Shi'ites.
Of course, to listen to TV news you wouldn't know this, since all the entertainment mavens (posing as journalists) care about is dramatic outburst footage.
Remember, the first trial is over. This is merely the second trial. I think the verdict for the first trial is expected sometime in October.
mules are sterile.
This trial is making me more and more sick whenever I read about it. It took us about ten months to try the 21 major Nazi leaders. This trial is going to last longer than the one for that Serbian leader. Saddam will die of old age before this his trial ends. Why are they having seperate trials for his different crimes in the first place. They can't tie the crimes together under two or three indictments? That's what they did at Nuremberg.
[Saddam] said, waving a yellow paper. I'm all for this request.
He should spend the rest of the trial in a running industrial plastic shredder.
I take it you believe in efficiency of government. Your idea is fine with me.
Actually, I think I've got to go with Saddam on this one.
If we put defendants in metal cages here in the U.S. during the trial, while they are presumably innocent until proven guilty, what signal would it send to the jury?
At least he gets his Ricky Lake reruns.
Saddam's courtroom cage is "bulletproof".
Danny,
He is in that cage as much for his PROTECTION more than anything else..
At the rate his trial is progressing he will probably die of old age before being sentenced.
He sure looks dead in that picture. I wonder why someone didn't poke him with a bayonet to see. What a waste of time. Get on with the "trial" and kill him slowly. How about a forced hunger strike in a 4' x 4' windowless cell painted with likenesses of President Bush and the constant smell of a yummy pig roast... just for starters.
