Arnold Schwarzenegger has until next Saturday, September 30 to act on the crush of bills sent to him by the legislature at the end of their session. There remain over 700 bills on the Governor's desk. According to his office, in 2006, he has taken action on 458 bills, including ones sent to him earlier in the year. So, in the next 6 days, the pace of announcements will be picking up from here.
So far, of the 261 vetoes by Governor Schwarzenegger on legislation from the 2005-2006 session, 252 of those bills were by Democratic authors and only 9 were from Republican legislators. This means that only 3.4% of the bills vetoed were authored by Republicans and 96.4% of them were by Democrats. So much for bipartisanship.

All the more reason to make sure Arnold gets reelected.
Well, he did get elected as a Republican. I am a little surprised the percentage was that high!
I would say...so far so good, right?
Sounds like Arnold is Terminating Democratic Bills.
That's because 96.4% of bad ideas come from Democrats and 3.6% of bad ideas come from Republicans who act like Democrats.
Great post!
--ah--the great state of having a full time legislature--
There's a lot of bills passed by the Democrat legislature that are so outrageous that even the Dems were relying on the governor to veto them. They passed them just to look good in front of the special interest groups that were pushing for them, and they can say: see? we did out part... On the other hand, strictly Republican proposals don't even pass the legislature, and therefore don't even make it to the governor's desk to get vetoed. This is yet another example of how statistics can't be considered in a vacuum.
Considering that we have an overwhelmingly Dem Legislature, most bills are indeed Dem bills.
Arnold's overall record is vetoing some 30-35% of the bills, more than other governors before him. He vetoes the worst ones, such as the universal healhtcare (i.e. government run socialized medicine), homosexual marriage, teaching homosexual virtues to kids, drivers licenses to illegals, increased fees/taxes bills, and signes those that may be annoying, but have a smaller impact. So overall he's done very good for CA, blocking the Dems attempts at totally destroying the state.
The Legislature is a leftist one in Sacramento, so about all that gets to go forward and not blocked for voting are probably mostly all liberal proposals, right?
With our liberal legislature very few Repbulican bills ever get to his desk.
Arnold is far preferred to the alternative!!!
Can you imagine how things would have turned out if Bustemente had won? Or if Angelides were in charge??
Shudder.
Right! You beat me by 10 minutes.
Well, it's only his first term.
Maybe he can get it up to 100% in his second term.
He's signed 459 bills, over 300 of which were by Democrats and the committees they control. He has vetoed only 28 Democrat sponsored bills. Overall, he has vetoed only 6% of all bills, or less than 10% of Dem bills.
They leftist will complain here too.
That's just inexcusable. No wonder so many people in California are getting fed up with Schwarzenegger.
100% of the bills that he vetoes should be authored by Democrats.
How many times will you post the same lies, FO? Despite being corrected once, your estimates now overstate his record even more!
As of the completion of the last legislative session, he vetoed 24 % of all bills since taking office. That compares to 21% by Davis over his terms in office.
Since he has only vetoed 6% of the 458 bills that passed his desk this year, Arnold's percentage is declining... but it is still too early to tally this year as there are hundreds of bills remaining.
He vetoes the worst ones...
Minimum wage? Global Warming? Solar roofs? Massive borrowing? He has signed, or is planning on signing some of the worst legislation in decades.
Exactly! Good thing we also kicked Davis's queer butt out
