President Bush and Sen. John McCain have reached an agreement on legislation covering tribunals for enemy combatant suspects, NBC News reported Thursday.
Details on the deal were not immediately available.
The compromise comes amid a stalemate that has divided the House and Senate on the treatment of detainees. The two sides remained at odds this week over how to adhere to the 1949 Geneva Conventions and simultaneously give the CIA wide leeway to conduct interrogations.

Awaiting the straight talk express...

I'm going to tell you what happened two days ago with regard to Graham's "base" here in South Carolina.
My friend June stopped over; June is the former GOP Chair of our County which is the size of Rhode Island. When Graham first ran for Congress he met with June for 2 hours in her house and gave him a list of 26 names of people whose help and financial support he needed.
Graham met with each of them within 24 hours and told June recently he still has that list. Each of those people sponsored a drop in at their homes and many contributed large sumes of money to his campaign.
Well, in the last week or so, June has received phones calls from those 26 people and they have all written and/or called Graham to tell him they won't ever vote for him again under any circumstances. His base is gone.
In addition, June said her phone is ringing off the hook with people complaining about Graham and she's asked for volunteer support from the RNC to help with the phone calls to her home. Even though she's no longer the Chairwoman, everyone considers her the head of the county GOP. And, btw, a month ago when I complained about Lindsey to her, she defended him. But she isn't even trying to defend him anymore.
That's just wrong!
Mr president, dont CAVE to bastard McCain on this one. Fight this one out.
Return from Brokeback Mountain...
For sure.
Hillary has nothing to say?? She's on the armed services committee. Her usual tactics.
The Dems are slowly walking McCain through Marcy Park.
How's your dad?....he's in my prayers
That is a very interesting story. Wonder what the hell is wrong with the people of Arizona for apparently putting up with McCain... we need dittomom to start another recall.
Off topic: I have been worried about you all day.
On topic: Like we were talking last week, right now there's nobody to challenge him in the primary and he's still better than any democrat. Y'all need to find a challenger.
Rummy was on tape...I don't know if he's in the building now.
FYI, HR 6061. The US Houses Border Fence bill is suppose to come up for a vote in the Senate at 5:45 EST.
I disagree. If the media was putting his remarks out for the public, his ratings would be higher and you wouldn't see so many Republicans shying away from him.
Whenever the President speaks, the Dems grab a mike and start spouting. I've always wondered if the Republicans stay silent, or does the media just ignore them.
Yes, that was taped...I don't know if it was today though...
Bingo!
