At least Saudi children who study here, return to their homes alive, unlike many American visitors to the Middle East.

"I know of many parents that have changed their plans and are sending their children to other destinations such as Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada."
My condolences to Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

"So the Saudis are upset that they are not allowed to keep slaves in the US, and as a result they are "thinking twice before sending their children to study in America"?"
Yea, where did they dredge up this argument? I wish they'd think twice.

I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell you at the intolerance exhibited here. Next thing you will expect our visitors to show humane attitudes to their employees. Besides she was probably only an illegal anyway.

Such injustice! Who does George Bush think he is telling a fine, young, Saudi gentleman that he can't bang the maid whenever the urge strikes?! It's his culture, for crying out loud! Where's the sensitivity? Where's the understanding? Where's the appreciation of diverse backgrounds?
Dude, where's my country?!?

So the Saudis are upset that they are not allowed to keep slaves in the US, and as a result they are "thinking twice before sending their children to study in America"?Amen to that!
I'm guessing they are still wondering what kind of country sends a man, a MAN no less, to prison for treating his chattel like, well, chattel. That would mean they had to take the word of the woman servant, for goodness sake. What's next? Women driving and working? Leaving the burkas at home? (end sarcasm)

"Al-Turki, 37, said that US authorities were persecuting him for traditional Muslim behaviors..."
So....let me see.... If I went to Saudi Arabia and engaged in "Traditional American Behaviors" like drinking beer, smoking cigars, riding a Harley w/loud pipes, and chasing hot young women, Saudi society would just have to accept it because "that's just what we Americans do"?
Sorry, they don't get to come to another country and import backwards, 7th-century customs, beliefs, and behaviors that are offensive to members of that society (or in his case, illegal), and then try to claim some bullshit "cultural" waiver when society holds them accountable.
Wasn't that type of behavior in the past what gave us the moniker "Ugly Americans"?
Maybe it's time to update that to "Ugly Arabians".

I'm in a small town. However, if all you Freepers showed up, it would become a big town. But come on anyway.

Too good to be true. We should have thought of this long ago.

We've had too much of cultural nonsense. The way the world is proves beyond any doubt multicultualism will not work. The world would be more at peace if each were in their own country.

Al-Turki, 37, said that US authorities were persecuting him for traditional Muslim behaviors. "Just the other day I was stoning non-believers to death. My slave girl was handing me the rocks, and I beat her if they weren't perfectly round. A policeman came by and asked me to pick up my litter. Well bandaids are necessary when hurling so many stones. I refuse to be treated like this!"

Good. We don't need them. We don't want them. We don't want to hear anymore of them. Good Riddance.
Why come to a country that you KNOW is sensitized to the middle eastern presence and is rightly suspicious of your activities? Does that make you upset, feeling a little put upon? Well tell you what, you stay home, fight those that make it such a living hell for you to be here, change your international image and maybe you might be welcome again. Doubt it though.
Oh, and another thing. YOUR pursuit of happiness does not mean a ticket to America.

>>>I am not going to sacrifice my sons by sending them to the US as long as they keep mistreating our children and abusing them for no reasons. My two sons will be graduating this year from high school and I will never ever think of sending them to America, Al-Najjar said. >>>
Huh? Are these people really dumb, or just misinformed?

Al-Enezi, a teacher at one of the largest high schools in Jeddah, said that many of his students who had been contemplating of studying in the US now showed no interest in heading there. Suits me fine if they all stay home.
