Dialogue Vs The Sword (Democracy Is Based On Consent, Islam is Based On Coercion Alert)
Daniel Pipes.org ^ | 09/19/06 | Paul Eidelberg

Posted on 09/19/2006 7:55:56 PM PDT by goldstategop

The violent Muslim reaction to Pope Benedict's reference to Muhammad involves far more than the issue of freedom of speech. The ultimate issue is one of theological truth on the one hand, and the true nature of Islam on the other. Pope Benedict's "indirect" disparagement of Muhammad--who was will denigrated by St. Thomas Aquinas, the touchstone of Roman Catholicism--is by definition a disparagement of Islam.

Be this as it may, the Pope now calls for "dialogue." When Islam substitutes dialogue for the sword it will cease to be Islam.

Islamic leaders from Muhammad to Ahmadinejad have ever declared war on "infidels." When the latter speaks of a "world without America." he means a world without Christianity. The Church had better take this threat seriously. Indeed, Christians should go on the offensive and make demands on Islamic leaders. "Stop your obscene vilification of Christians and Jews. Abide by the United Nations Charter and its Universal Declaration of Human Rights, or we shall take steps to have you expelled from the world body."

Let us face the fact that dialogue, which goes back to Abraham's disputation with God over the fate of Sodom and Gemorah, goes to the root of Greco-Christian civilization. It is utterly foreign to Islam.

Dialogue is of the essence of genuine democracy. But whereas democracy is based on the primacy of consent or persuasion, Islamic regimes are based on the primacy of force or coercion.

The West, in particular Christian America (but also Israel), had better face up to the fact that Islam has declared war on us. The best defense is a good offense, which must begin with words that reveal the true nature of the enemy. But this war will not be won by words alone.

This short paranthesis by Dr. Paul Eidelberg is an important commentary on Pope Benedict's Regensburg lecture. Besides the themes of reason vs fanaticism, upon which I have already explored in earlier threads at some length, he brings up some very important additional insights worth pondering. Democracy and its progenitor, Judeo-Christian civilization is based on the consent of the governed and on persuasion to rule. In contrast, autocracy and its parent Islam, is based on coercion and the primacy of force. So when Iran's dictator Mohammed Ahmedinejad speaks of "a world without America" - he means a world without Christianity. Islam has been at war with the West for over 1400 years. If Islam gives up coercion and force, it will no longer be Islam qua Islam. Those who mindlessly mischaracterize its true essence by mistakenly referring to it as the "Religion Of Peace" are either oblivious to its true nature or in denial about what Islam - far more even than its extremist offshoot Islamofascism inspired by it - means for our civilization. Islam in truth is first and foremost the "Religion Of War."

As it stands here and now, it is my considered opinion that Islam needs to be eliminated from the face of the earth, with EXTREME PREJUDICE.

No quarter shall be offered, nor given.

SEMPER FI!

The point is democracy in Iraq is an alien transplant. Islamic extremists reject it because it goes contrary to the autocratic essence of Islam. Whereas Western political structures are based on a bottom up model, in Islamic cultures the political structures are based on a top down model. In our societies, the people rule. In theirs, either the clergy gives the orders as mediated in the Koran or there are military regimes that claim to rule in its name. Either way, in most of the Islamic World, true freedom as we know in the West is non-existent.

I like Pipes, but this bit...

... is pure fantasy. Christians will sooner be expelled from the "World Body" than will the Muslims.

I mean, hello! HELLO!!! Anybody home???

And Islam's answer to this centuries old question is?

It is a "serious" offense to commit blasphemy towards Islam even if you are not muslim.

Islam is a supremacist political ideology. It does not tolerate dissent and ridicule. It must be "accepted" as the dominant faith (co-existence only comes from acknowledging our muslim superiors).

Quote: "Indeed, Christians should go on the offensive and make demands on Islamic leaders." Unquote.

The days of Christians making demands on Islamic leaders are far over. Christians are generally too busy sucking the liberal hind tit, for example helping illegal aliens enter the USA with pregnant wives so they can stay in the USA after the child is born here, then standing in a circle, holding hands and singing "Cum by hyah."

Liberalism has destroyed Western Christianity, because of its "peace at any cost," attitude, Christians today would appease anyone who is a threat, lay down , roll over and lift their legs like dogs succumbing to an Alpha. Tyranny is a welcome visitor.

Such is modern Christianity. The warrior Christians are all but dead, and their swords lay rusting in the wells of a false compassion, which beggars the protection of their own religion, people and the very countries which have so long given them a costless freedom.

And God will punish them for NOT standing up to the Islamofascists

At least the present pope has courage, and as a German remembers when in the 1930s, the then pope failed to speak out against the German, Italian and Spanish fascists, who sent millions to their graves prematurely.

"Onward Christian Soldiers" has never had such potency as it again does in our times. And Islamofascists are laughing at how easy it is to manipulate todays modern , whiny liberal Christians. The pope knows this.

Interesting how much religion has been driven from our lives, only to be attacked now from a competing religion. Now, we have no spiritual defense to adhere to. Our politicans and media are pure humanists, with no inherent belief system to fall back upon. Islam is ready, willing and able to kill over 1 billion Christians and Jews. We do not. Does anyone get the impression this might have been planned.

Yes, and reciprocity in religion. That means that BECAUSE we have allowed millions of Muslims into the west, allowed them to live and worship and allowed them to build Mosques you WILL allow Christians unfettered rights to worship in your country. And build churches. Even in Saudi Arabia.

Someone else was mentioning this on a tv show, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Also, tell your irregulars to follow the Geneva Conventions - that means no more beheadings, uniforms, etc.

I have a question to put forth:

What will happen when the Muzzies assassinate the Pope? Will we all just discuss it?

Now, we have no spiritual defense to adhere to.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

What you say is the sorry fact of our times. Humanism at any cost is simply what I call idiot compassion, compassion without the cool wisdom necessary to do good. The heart of Christ, symbol of genuine compassion, has little to do with such idiocy.

We have turned our cheek more than twice to Islamofascism. Those times are now over, and there are few of us in the world who have awakened to that fact. Fortunately, the present pope is such a one. Roman Catholics are fortunate to have him, but the liberal wing of his flock seeks to pull his glorius fangs , even before they can sink into the scrawny necks of those who seek world dominion in a Caliphate from whose darkness the world would not recover, and freedom now goes into that darkness.

Well, I have a couple comments on that.

1) Islam is not just threatening America or Christians. It's at war with Hindus and Sikhs in India. With Buddhists in Thailand ...with non-Christian Russians. ...with African 'animists'. And, let us not forget that 'post-Christian' Europe is really the main battleground - The Big Show.

2) Christianity isn't a call to arms. And it's not a political or military movement (like Islam). It has more to do with a guiding personal relationship with Jesus.

3) Christianity has definitely been weakened in the West, but is on the move in Africa and China. The new 'West' if you will, is emerging in the South and East.

Having said that, Christians should play a role in confronting Islam because they are in a position to understand the true threat in a way that post-Christians aren't. There is a large spiritual component of this confrontation and atheists/agnostics can't seem to make sense of it.

I have more thoughts on this at http://www.clashofcivilizations.net BTW, I'm looking for original contributors from all over the world to post their own thoughts on this special-purpose site. If interested, please follow the instructions on the site.

Here is my comment to your comments: Text: Sabine Baring-Gould, 1834-1924

Music: Arthur S. Sullivan, 1842-1900

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; forward into battle see his banners go!

Refrain:

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before.

2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise. (Refrain)

3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God; brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided, all one body we, one in hope and doctrine, one in charity. (Refrain)

4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the church of Jesus constant will remain. Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail. (Refrain)

5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng, blend with ours your voices in the triumph song. Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King, this through countless ages men and angels sing. (Refrain)
