Steve Irwin's Memorial Service to Air on Animal Planet
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, FROM 9-10 P.M. ET/PT. Get a reminder!
(Silver Spring , MD) Animal Planet is airing Steve Irwin's memorial service exclusively in the U.S., commercial-free, on Tuesday, September 19, from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, with an encore broadcast airing 12-1 a.m. ET/PT. The memorial service, entitled Steve Irwin: He Changed Our World, will be a same-day broadcast (with a two-hour delay) of the event Wednesday morning in Australia.
The public memorial service for the beloved animal conservationist and television personality is being held in the "Crocoseum," a 5,500-seat stadium at Irwin's Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Australia. Members of the Irwin Family, as well as Irwin's long-time friend and producer, John Stainton, are expected to speak. Celebrities and dignitaries worldwide are expected to attend.
Woke up from my nap this afternoon. When I turned on my television Crocodile Hunter was recording instead of my regular show on this television. Left it on in the background and came on here. Saw the ping for this thread, then the commercial for the memorial came on. LOL!
Thanks for the ping. I already planned the evening around it. I'm glad there is a live thread. This is going to be a tough one, but I wouldn't miss it.
I will be watching this live on Australian television - if people would like, I can give a running commentary of what is happening.
Thanks. Is it on any radio station?
Thank you!
Bumping for Steve.
Steve will be missed here.
May he rest in peace.
I wish my son would have felt more like Steve Irwin while saving the baby bird he did two and a half years ago. Instead he said he felt like Steve Irwin when he was poking in the grass around a structure in our grass and came across a brown recluse that crawled onto the stick he was using. After about 30 seconds of admiring it he threw it back.
That is a great story!
It is going to be very difficult for me to watch, but I feel like I have to "be" there.
What a charming story; it brought a tear to my eye.
Thanks.
I received this duplicate of an email from a pastor in Queensland this past week and I have no reason to think that it is anything but legitimate:

Recoreded tribute by Russell Crowe in New York.
"Your passing has suspended reality for all of us."
"You will still be pleased to know that the world sends its love and people all over the world are grieving."
Definitely way too soon. He will be missed!
Same here. My family has had nothing but admiration and respect for Steve and his family. My heart just breaks for them. But it is a great loss for the rest of us who loved him, too. We will miss him very much.
Oh that is so sweet!!!
That's interesting. When his son was born, they had some Buddhist nuns do some sort of "blessing" on him, and I wasn't comfortable about it at all. I saw a rerun of that the other night.
