Nearly two of every three Colorado voters think illegal immigrants should be allowed to become U.S. citizens if they pay taxes, learn English and meet other requirements, according to a new Rocky Mountain News/CBS 4 poll.
Only 15 percent of those polled favor mass deportations.
"People want to be tough but fair," said pollster Lori Weigel. "It's like many issues. You tend to hear from extremes on both ends. Clearly, this data indicate that there's a silent majority that is supportive of a more middle-ground approach."

Guest worker program or not, don't you think it is in the national interest to cease allowing an influx of illegal aliens?

That's why I support a guest worker program(with such provisions such as paying a fine and not a path to citizenship), that would bring some sanity to the current situation and would not punitively businesses that do such good things such as buildshelter or grow food.
It amazes me sometimes the knee jerk animus towards business some have on FR(not you).
Actually we should send them all back to Mexico to go steal a VW Diesel car from Hitler's assembly plant there and bring it back to the US as a ticket to good citizenship.

We must also get rid of anchor babies..if the government won't do that..then when mom is deported the little spawn goes as well, or momasita can give the kid up for adoption by a citizen!

A guestworker program cannot be administered unless the flow of illegals is cut off. Seal the border, then talk guest worker. If we do not do that, then we will be back in the same boat as after 1986. If not sealed, a guest worker program may reduce "illegal" entry by some percentage, but it will not discourage the drug dealers and criminals and gangsters that regularly cross the border. Border security first is a must. Then we can debate the status of those here and the need for workers.
My point exactly. You think we shouldn't send them back because there are too many. The same argument applies to any laws that cover society. Since you can't send them all back we should do nothing. My insurance just went up, did yours? I wonder why with all the uninsured motor vehicle drivers out there. How about all those medical bills that get run out on

Actually a guest worker program would get the people who wish to work above board and that would free up resources for ICE and the border patrol to go after the real bad guys.
