According to Zogby's latest poll of likely voters, 34 percent tend to vote Republican, 37 percent tend to vote Democrat and 23 percent are "not sure". Considering the 3.1 margin of error, and if some of the "non-sure" voters turn right, the Republicans are in good position of staying in Control of Capital Hill. (If the positive trend in the polls continues, the Republican "will" stay in control of Washington after November).
Who is Zigby?
I think you meant "Zigzagby poll"
Don't get too excited: I still think we'll lose 7-10 in the house and 2-3 in the Senate.
But you are right that we won't lose control of either. I've been saying that for a while, and this just goes further to prove it.
These "national" polls mean NOTHING in congressional races. Each one is decided within its own district, and each district votes for specific reasons. The ONLY way to get an accurate poll of congressional districts is to take a separate poll WITHIN a congressional district, and then poll individual states for Senate races. Most people SAY they favor a specific party, but they always tend to vote for their own incumbent.
Ignore polls - good or bad ones - they are a waste. All that matters is which groups get off of their duffs and vote.
I thought it was Ziggy.
The only polls that matter are the ones on election night.
We'd better hope the Senate polls are wrong because they show the Dems easily within striking distance of taking a majority there, or at least having a 50-50 split. I think Repubs will start gaining though in some of those races.
I have never been aware that a poll proved anything.
Whoever Zigby is, I hope his polls are more reliable than Zogby's.
"....staying in Control of Capital Hill...."
I think it is Capitol Hill that the Dems would like to control.
A majority of the American population is right of center anyway so if the "I don't knows" are the indication of American opinion then the vote will be exactly the split as in the '04 election and it remains a Republican majority.
The Left claims that Zogby's fraudulent polls during the 2004 election "prove" that Bush/Rove/Halliburton/Walmart stole the election.
I think Zigby and Zogby polls are just as reliable as Zilch polls. :-)
Psstttt....
Zogby "IS" a Dem ARAB!
Think you'll get an honest post out of him?
This would happen less often if there were a preview of the thread title before the post is loaded..... something that needs fixing in the FR software....
Things are moving in the right direction. I think people who are predicting Republican losses are dead wrong. I think the Republicans will gain.
A couple more months of the President being forthright on terror, the Democrats being their obnoxious selves, and $1.85 gasoline is going to make a huge difference.
