DOH! I did not see this big post about it. But I think about this often. I always think it was not necessary to take the children with them. That was so cruel and selfish and the children were so trusting of their parents.
I miss much about Louisiana, but I never forget who is responsible for the poverty, criminality, and disfunctionality of Louisiana: Louisianians.

You are of course 100% correct in your assessment. Getting all lathered-up with regard to race relations is very fashionable these days. The people who yell loudest about all their "black friends" are the worst offenders. They live in gated communities twenty miles from the nearest black family. They have 9-1-1 on the speed dial just in case they see a stranger [read: black person] in their development. That kind of intellectual dishonesty is what is really pathetic.

I thought here comes a sharp disagreement. Previously, I had lead off on the Province of Ontario, having the gall to interfere with another sovereign state. They had encouraged civil disobedience in Alabama. They had supported Martin Luther King. Ok so far. They then sent men to prison in Ontario. It was for the SAME kind of civil disobedience. My mistake was that the women of Tilco Plastics got $1.47 hourly, not $2.47.
A long digression by me but..... Take the Toronto Star. About three years ago,a Star writer alleged the BLUE JAYS baseball team were cutting down on visible minorities. Headed TORONTO WHITE JAYS. Said they had about 67% white players.
The Toronto Star is one of the main bastions of integration and multi-culture in Canada. A rival newspaper mentioned Toronto Star's executive.
It was 97.5% white.
Just as clarification, I'm not from Canada and know nothing of professional baseball! I like birdwatching and consider Blue Jays to be cool and scrappy...thus my FReeper handle.

SOME Louisianians.
Example.One of my classes back in the Seventies had three girls that were pregnant and most likely went on welfare.
I had another who became a paralegal for a big NY law firm,another who became President of Southern in New Orleans and later became an attorney.Several others got athletic scholarships to various black colleges.
During my entire time down there,I think I had THREE racially motivated remarks directed at me from black kids in my school.Some of the BLACK teachers had a much rougher time with the kids than I did,including one who was ambushed at the school with a shotgun.
You simply can't put all the poor folks in New Orleans into one bag.Some do right,some screw up and most just slog through life trying to make it the best they can.

I have raised two self sufficient and respectable children and have three little grandsons. I don't support or condone these parents, or the mother or whoever is behind this, parading these two girls out, as you said, much like Patsy Ramsey did Jon Benet. What was most appalling were the freepers who have these girls, who are still children, growing up as white trash pole dancers living in trailers. Not only that, but finding it right funny as well. And now they're all defending their posts.....lol. Just wow.
No, never heard of these children until yesterday. Always nice to meet someone who underscores my earlier point, however. Thank you for that.
