The Fitzpatrick Plame investigation has spurred the New York Times into examining how their reporters conduct themselves. Apparently, the Gray Lady wants her staff to act more like terrorists and drug dealers. Reporters are being told to delete emails, destroy notes, and use disposable cell phones in order to stymie future investigations.

This is unbelievable!
But I'm not surprised in the least. I'm actually surprised that they haven't been doing this already.

And what are their happless victims supposed to do to protect themselves from a drive by media attack that may wreck their lives and ruin their fortunes? Media needs to be more responsible and accountable, not less so.

Ethics training should be required at today's journalism schools. Both before and after you go though the motions of becoming a journalist.

If a reporter was murdered, while doing an investigation into a corrupt union, good notes left behind may help investigators, bring the union thugs to justice.

Ethics training should be required at today's journalism schools. Why? Snakes can't be taught to walk.

" NYT Teaches Reporters How to Destroy Records" Well there's nothing like having pride in one's work. Here's a suggestion though. If they are going to get all that education only to destroy what they produce, I suggest they find another line of work.

To actively destroy evidence is an admission that you are aware the acts committed are criminal.

Maybe they should contact that Sandy Berger guy who stuffed top secret info in his socks. I'm sure he knows how to destroy important papers.

I think if they destroy all their source material, then they should be sued for libel. If they don't have source documents, obviously they made it all up.

I would imagine that their former handlers in the KGB could provide more trade-craft techniques for our intrepid journalists. Subversion, treason and sedition has as many tricks as practioners.

Stop buying their papers, and boycott the living dailights out of their advertizers until they show responsibility.

The only difference between an unnamed source and an imaginary friend is the credibility of the journalist. Considering the NYT used to have a guy on the payroll and make things up about actions in another state (Jason Blair?), being on the NYT payroll is not a good place to have any credibility anyway.

If a reporter was murdered, while doing an investigation into a corrupt union, good notes left behind may help investigators, bring the union thugs to justice. Very hypothetical example. Communists, as thugs, don't investigate union thugs. Communism is not about economics. It never has been. It's purely about fascist power, just the opposite of their proclaimed ideal, anarchy.

True but, realize where and who the ethics courses would be taught by; the same Leftwing Socialist Loons at the same UberLiberal University.
So where are they supposed to get Ethics? They should have gotten it at Home, Church, Sunday School, in Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts from the time they were born because waiting to teach them ethics until the college years is no good and it won't take.

To NYT. What proof do you have that you actually talked to an anonymous source at_______?
NYT response: Ummm, well, it depends on the meaning of the word proof. I mean, we printed it so that's proof, isn't it?
