I think Rice in VP will give her the executive experience she may need.
Regarding Schwartzkopf, I have no idea of his 'conservative' credentials, I just feel that in this time of war, he has the potential to keep this country focused, and will dispatch all of our enemies (external and internal) with vigor and leadership.

We in the Keys are just rebellious and always have been. The Conch Republic?
Fla. isn't really considered a Southern state until you get North of I-4.
The difference between the northern "I-10 corridor" part of Florida, the panhandle, across to Jacksonville, versus the rest of the state is very noticeable.

If the Possum truly is abandoning One-Note Johnny, I'd look for him to latch onto Rudy or Romney.

I was/am not sure. I did not think the North Vietnamese agreed to it but I do believe China was, and they were helping the North. North Korea was signed on too, and ignored it.
To: anita
Oh, yes, McCain demonstrating his "principles."
Got to leave the thread. We are trying to get a lot of yard work done today and my husband is already out mowing. We are to have a 20 degree temperature drop + rain in the next two days, so today is crunch time!
I will go back and read the thread this evening.

Stormin' Norman was good at the job he was trained to do. Outside of that...not so good. Just remember the cease fire he brokered with Saddam.
Rice is far to valuable for the nation to waste her talents for 4-8 years with OJT as VP.

This has been a huge story all over the net about the Pope's apology/ non-apology.
We covered it pretty well here on FR earlier.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1702557/posts
Check out post # 102 it's good, also I got flamed a bit for suggesting that It was a mistake for the pope to apologize to the muzzies since it is seen as a sign of weakness by those who would exploit anything non muslim.
I am personally glad the Pope did speak out since the Catholic Church and many Christians are taking huge hits all over the mid-east simply for being what they are non-muslims.
It really show what we are up against in this war. Far more than we anticipated. An enemy that strikes out at anything that is not like them..

I believe that McCain is using this Geneva Conventions kerfuffle to keep his POW past on the front burner. After the model used by John "I served in Viet Nam" Effing Kerry?
To: mathluv
Good point...but he was my Governor..and I liked him then.
We shall all wait and see...but, any Senator is going be at a disadvantage..because they still have to VOTE..and do they vote their conscience...or do they vote the way a future POTUS would vote??
What if there is a difference??
THAT is what we have to watch...INTEGRITY is the first thing on MY list of qualifications for POTUS.
Bush has a Texas-sized amount of INTEGRITY.
