McCain just said that in his bill they will provide "coverage for CIA agents that interrogate, AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT IN GRAY AREAS".
IOW, McCain's bill does NOT totally cover the interrogators.
He also made a slip of the tongue, when earlier in the intvu, he said Bush wants to MODIFY the GC...and they don't want that.
Then, later in the intvu, when describing what THEY want to do, he used the word "modify", then quickly changed it, when he realized what he said!
This is all crapola that McCain is spewing today.
He also told Stepphy early in the intvu that the other countries WILL treat the military prisoners BETTER...
even though he was a POW to a country that signed the GC, Vietnam, and was TORTURED...so, another lie.
Oh. DEAR...He said he respects people MORE that have been to war, and have worn the uniform!
IOW, any "official" in Bush's Administration that did NOT serve is not to be respected.
Great photos snugs way to go.
a small collection of quotes I picked up over the day:
But when the Pope suggests Islam is violent, Islam becomes...violent. Here a question for you Moral Equivalence fans: Have you noticed that "radical Christians," although just insulted by Rosie O'Donnell, are not rioting or threatening anyone's life?
Robert Spencer
Insulted by the suggestion that their religion was violent, thousands of young men took to the streets to threaten violence. - The UK Telegraph
What is also undeniable is that whereas the claims of Islam to be a religion of peace have been unceasingly made, almost all the Islamists have justified their terrorism in terms of religious obligation. - Swapan Dasgupta, The Pioneer
Should the Pope apologize for saying that Islam isn't a Religion of Peace, or should Muslims apologize for having let their religion become what it is? Let's look at the numbers:
Since we've been keeping track, at least six priests, 14 pastors and thousands of Christians have been murdered in the name of Islam in the last five years. This even includes 382 who were slain by Muslims in or on the grounds of a church in countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt, Iraq, Nigeria, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Turkey and Bangladesh.
By contrast, we can't find a single incident since 9/11 when a mosque leader or ordinary Muslim was murdered in the name of Catholicism. - TROP
"Honestly, the thin-skinnedness of many Muslims is getting awfully tiresome. How on earth are we ever supposed to be able to have a dialogue if the non-Muslim side has to walk on eggshells to avoid offending the wounded sensibilities of Muslim leaders, who seem very eager to take gross offense at anything critical?" Rod Dreher, Beliefnet

In politics the simplest message have the most impact.
If Virginians choose Webb over Allen we are in serious trouble. The Northern counties of Virginia are getting as Blue as the Maryland suburbs of DC - all feeding at the trough of Federal jobs. We have to hope that enough conservative Virginians will get out the vote.
Okay...Stephy played Boehner making his comment....and asked McCain about it.
McCain said "I don't think we need to question someone's PATRIOTISM"!!!! A DEM talking point!!!
McCain wants to be Pres, and until that time, for him, it is 'country be damned!'
Tom Maguire reports on Dana Milbank ridiculing Pelosi's "New Direction" booklet.
"It was a handsome booklet, full of homey photographs and popular proposals, but there was a problem. Democrats have had more "New Directions" recently than MapQuest."

Could you... clarify?
I agree. The jig is up for him.
Maybe, but there wasn't much. If I hadn't been looking directly at the tv to see the VP, I would never have known she was here. And to think of the tremendous effort she had to make. It's just shameful.
Thanks, ec
The Anchoress writes
"What a difference 25 years can make
or not.
Pope Benedict XVI has, appropriately, stopped just short of apologizing to the perpetually offended and angry Islamists, for daring to remind the world that violence is not the perfect means to effect conversion and promote faith, and that Islam has not progressed markedly away from the sword in some hundreds of years. An apology would be useless, of course, because one could never be crafted to placate them, short of Benedicts bloody head on a silver platter.
Proving Benedicts point, of course, radical Islamists have decided that introspection is unappetizing, and thus they have, quite predictably, begun to rampage, burn, pillage, and otherwise carry on pretty much the way people do when they feel trapped and want to change the subject."

When he's defeated in the primaries the DBM will count on him to rip whoever the GOP nominee is right through the general election.
That is a very good point. I have always felt that McCain will run as a Republican or not run at all. I still cannot see him either switching parties or running as an Independant/third party.
Sure. For the most part I see pros and cons with every GOP candidate who is being considered as the Republican presidential candidate in 2008. Some are worse than others, but each has one or more positions I do not agree with. To that end, I plan on waiting to see what develops and who comes across as the best person for the job.
I can't do a darned thing about any of them today, even McCain. I hope Senator Allen wins his reelection campaign this year and I believe going against him now is counter productive to our interests and goals.
Or maybe VP. if McCain see's the position much like Clinton did... Powell's wife wouldn't have any complaints... he'd be home most of the time.
