Every Country Hates Us! Why the US should generally disregard world opinion
The Prometheus Institute ^ | 9/15/2006 | Justin Hartfield

Just because "every country hates us" does not mean the US made a mistake removing Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq, or bankrolling the Israeli military, or keeping troops in Saudi Arabia. We should never be afraid to take just action in fear of drawing criticism from other countries. The only people that should determine our domestic or international policies work in Washington, D.C - and not Baghdad.

Yeah, we should really worry what corrupt third world dictatorships tell their people about us. Can you image this current crop of clowns in 1941?

"Why do the Japanese and the Nazis hate us"?

Everyone does NOT hate the U.S.

The ones who do stone their people to death, deny all of citizens , especially women and non-muslims, fair and equal rights, and are quiet in the face of terrorism and mass murder of civilians.

We should disregard ALL opinion polls.

Why?

What are the qualifications for being cited in an opinion poll?

Do you have to be educated?
Do you have to be a rational thinker?
Do you have to be politically neutral?

The fact is, the polls are constructed to give certain results. In addition, the surveys are often given to particular geographic areas where their results will be slanted.

And finally, the reason for polling is not to find out what is right or wrong, but to be used as a tool in a PR campaign to serve a political agenda.

Advertising firms figured it out long ago that if you want to build popularity for a product, the first thing you do is survey 10 people in the factory where it is made and ask them if they think it is good. Then, you do a campaign saying "8 out of 10 people think this is great!"

Then they poll the recipients of the campaign and it might be at 10% that truly think the product is great. So they run the same "8 out of 10" PR for a longer period, use different time slots, etc... and then go back out and see how it worked. If they can get it up to 35 or 40%, they have done a GREAT job.

I'm always reminded of a quote from the great American essayist, Ralph Waldo Emerson, whenever people complain that the U.S. is "hated" "reviled" etc. That quote follows below and is taken from the essay "Self-Reliance": "Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood"

Then of course, there is always this quote I have hanging on my office wall, and point to, whenever a client complains about the war in Iraq, etc. "Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.”

Let us not forget that when you are a superpower, like the United States is, other countries have reason to hate you, much like when rise to the top of your profession, those below have reason to hate you. It's the nature of the beast so to speak.

It's not so much that nations hate the US. It's more that all utopian intellectual peacenick fools worldwide hate the realistic remnent. In the US, the realistic remnent are a substantial plurality or slight majority, depending on who you talk to, whereas in Europe they are in the minority. There you have it.

"every country hates us"

Hate them back, it works for me.

Anyone who goes around worrying about who dislikes them has significant mental health issues. I suggest they seek professional help.

We don't have troops in Saudi Arabia. We were told to remove them three-four years ago. They hate us too.

What's perhaps most hypocritical about the Left's obsession with how the world hates us is that they are the purveyors and instigators of this very hate. While they lecture Bush about tact and diplomacy, it is the Democrats themselves...and their media brethren, who are responsible for creating an image of America that doesn't exist. From flusing Koran stories to endless articles on Abu Ghraib and Gitmo torture to Democrat politicians accusing our troops of terrorizing people and acting like fascists, these people are deliberately inflaming the emotions of our enemies.

As one of the 9/11 widows rightfully noted during an interview this past week; when our own people accuse our troops and country of torturing prisoners, the Muslim world has a different perception of torture. Instead of hot and cold environments and loud rock music, torture in the Arab world consists of extreme brutality, which includes amputations and beheadings. But because our media rarely makes these distinctions, the "world" is left with the perceptions that we are as inhumane as them...thus, the moral equivalence argument.

If the Left wants to know why the world hates us they don't have to look any further than the nearest mirror. Even when it comes to Hollywood and the garbage coming out of the entertainment industry, much of what they produce makes America look like a degenerate society. The fact is, it is the Left...just as they do in this country, who are the biggest purveyors of hate. They are enabling and emboldening the enemy, giving them even more reasons and excuses to hate this country, and thus, attack us.

"Can you image this current crop of clowns in 1941?"

What a sight that would be. I can see 200 Nazi SS Officers, all lined up like ducks in a row and ready for bombing. When all of a sudden General Patton says: "Wait, those men are standing on sacred Nazi cemetaries. Let them be, we'll deal with them later".

Truth be told, if we had in the White House and Senate during WWII what we have now, you and I would be speaking Japanese or German, or both.

Being hated by a muslim is an honor. What would we be if they liked us?
