Bush: We've talked all summer with key players about program going forward and was pleased House of Representatives passed a good bill with overwhelming bipartisan majority. I thought that was good progress.

Work to do in Senate. We've been involved ever since teh SCOTUS program came down. We've been talking about military tribunals and Article 3 of GC. Hard for citizens to understand that Article.

Vague standard that the Court said must be the guide for our conduct. It's so vague that it's impossible to ask anyone to participate in the program for fear of that person breaking the law. So we've worked with both parties to bring definition to Common Article 3.

I really don't think most Americans want international courts to guide how we protect ourselves. We can pass law in the US that helps define our international treaty obligations.

We've done that in the past. It's not the first time we've done that.

Georgie Steph looks like he got a new toupee. He basically said...Bush took on everybody. Gee, sounds like we have a REAL President. We're pretty sick of Congress and the courts being a stopper in the war on terrorism.

When will they get it. This is War Time. There are secrets in time of War. Congress, the same folks who sit in oversight simply can't keep a secret and want to rule the war.

The Prez was given the authority of COMMANDER IN CHIEF SPECIFICALLY because Congress was a stopgate. The idea that the SCOTUS can restrict the Powers of the President in TIME OF WAR is absurd.

McCain was an "ordinary soldier" and POW. Had he been a High Profile Character, I can assure you that his body wouldn't be working as well as it does today. He has an illusion that everyone will follow the Geneva Convention if we do. Saddam was not even a signee.
