Nobody actually likes the taste of that stuff, do they?

When all I had ever ate was slimy canned spinach, or creamed spinach, I agreed with you.

Then my wife had me try fresh spinach lightly sauteed in butter with a dash of salt and pepper...now it's one of my favorites. I'd eat it every day if I could.

Spinach.....

You just don't how to prepare it, P-M.

You put it in salad. Then it's another of those little green thingies in there and you don't even think about it.

The best way to eat salad?

Fry about a pound of bacon. Add a cup of sugar and a cup of vinegar to the bacon grease.

Dump this very hot mixture onto a very large assortment of green thingies (to include spinach). Crumble all the bacon on top. Slice on a few hard boiled eggs.

This is the only way I eat leafy green stuff.

They're wrong if they say that spinach won't clog your arteries.

They're claiming that the E. coli has gotten INSIDE the plant, via the nutrient absorption route, and CANNOT be washed out.

On the other hand, I'm wondering how many millions of Americans ate raw spinach last month, and didn't get sick, and didn't die...

Shouldn't we ban like, everything?

Is that an expert's perspective?

it shouldnt matter that something this important is posted more than once

I agree. I just bought a bag of this yesterday, eat it everyday in salads & wouldn't have known about this without this post.

That said, I appreciate it when people link to previous threads because we can reference comments there too. It's very helpful to string related threads together.

The spinach looks like it is from California and is only the bagged type. The loose spinach is okay.

I eat a huge raw spinach salad every day and love it. With dried cranberries, pears sliced, feta and almonds and Paul Newman lite raspberry walnut dressing.

It is the best salad known to man. You can use strawberries, grapes, apples and other fruit or nuts.

OMG. That sounds unbelievable. Spinach, pears & nuts (I usually do toasted walnuts) are a killer combination; I bet dried cranberries & feta would send it out of this world. I eat a humongous salad every day too - definitely gonna try yours!

I just came from the grocery store, they had plenty of bagged spinach. Do you think I should mention something to the manager?

Maybe it is just spinach imported from foreign countries. I am so sick and tired of seeing imported produce at the grocery store. I haven't seen a pineapple grown in Hawaii for three years or more. Why can't we get "grown in America" produce in our own stores? Maybe then there wouldn't be so much sickness. Just last month it was packaged mixed salad. What's it going to be next?

Nice salad. We make a similar one at my house with a minor mod - May I offer it to you? Toss in a handful of toasted shelled pistachio nuts and a sliced avacado. You won't be sorry!

If God wanted us to eat spinach He wouldn't have created the virus. I really think this is a sign He is fed up with our ignoring His dietry boundaries.

How many brands of packaged spinach are there? Where is it packaged and who worked at the food processing plants? Certainly someone should know where this came from. This has been going on for at least a month month thank to our enept government.

Thanks for that info snow. The very disturbing part of this story is the fact that no one brand has been cited, and the cases are spread throughout the country...so disturbing to see the FDA this concerned where they have alerted consumers to chuck fresh spinach regardless of brand.
