A new Zogby Poll was released this week (8/30/06) showing once again that Lynn Swann is closing the gap with Ed Rendell.
Rendell 48.4% Swann 43.5%
This is a 3-point improvement over the last Zogby poll, released in mid-July, which showed Lynn 7-points down. To read more about the most recent poll, click here.
As Zogby International notes on their research material, Zogby International was the most accurate polling firm of the 2004 Presidential election cycle. Not only did they most accurately predict the outcome of the Presidential election, they also accurately predicted the winner in 85% of the states that it polled, while, by state, the polls were within 4-points of the results, on average.
Last year, Zogby accurately predicted the results of both the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial contests, with poll results within 2.5-points on average.

This is a rather old poll at this point, but I'm posting it because I haven't seen this race get much play on FR. Lynn Swann looks like he really CAN take out Fast Eddie Rendell. And believe me, it would be a HUGE win if he does.
Ed Rendell is one of the most partisan Democrats--and also one of the most corrupt politicians in America. And that's saying something.
Go Lynn Go!

Now if Swann can improve his standing in a poll from a real pollster, he will be right on track.

But--but all the "right" columnists said the Republicans were going down to miserable defeat this year! The Dems were going to take Congress, the State Houses, the dog officer positions... Wha--what's happening? Who lied to us? Mommy!!!!

I agree, Zogby s#cks. Have you seen any polls from a real pollster? If so, please post 'em.

Well I guess as long Rendell is under 50% Swann is still in the hunt plus voters will only now start paying attention.

I suspect a "real pollster", or several of them, have now added the PA race to their schedule, since it's apparent now it is becoming tighter.

Then why did Zogby predict Kerry getting over 300 electoral votes?

The trend is in the right direction. All Swann needs to do is slowly rise in the polls and peak on election day.

Has he ever explained how he blew projecting a Kerry win?
To: Parley Baer
yup... I have a real good feeling about this fall's elections. I'm avoiding gloating to the libs around here ... don't want them to get their hopes down too soon...

He didn't actually play in that game but I get your point.

Does Zogby have a catagory for "Likely To Vote Multiple Times" voters? Any Fast Eddie poll that does not include this catagory is useless.

Indeed. Funny how they tout getting 85% of the states right as a bragging point. You don't need to be a pollster to know California was going Kerry and Texas was going Bush. It was the 15% he missed where pollsters show their meddle.

Smart, solid Black Conservatives are the death of the Democrat party--and the best hope for the GOP!
Could you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if one of these three gentlemen was actually elected President within the next 20 years? Oh, the humanity!
