President Bush Job Approval (@47%)
Rasmussen ^ | September 14 2006

Posted on 09/14/2006 9:00:46 AM PDT by jmc1969

Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. Fifty percent (50%) disapprove. Those are by far the best numbers for the President since mid-February.

The spike is fueled largely by a resurgence of support among the President’s base. Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans now offer their approval. At its low point earlier in the year, just 66% of the GOP faithful approved of his job performance.

In January and much of February, the President’s Job Approval ratings were in the mid-40s. Then, they fell sharply and have hovered around 40% ever since. Fifty percent (50%) of men and 44% of women now say they somewhat or strongly approve of the President’s performance. Overall, 24% of Americans Strongly Approve and 38% Strongly Disapprove.

Since this is just the third day of a bounce, it remains to be seen whether this reflects lasting change or is nothing more than statistical noise. The Rasmussen Reports daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. Most of the interviews for today’s update were completed before President Bush’s address to the nation two nights ago. Friday’s results will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted after the speech and after the 9/11 anniversary.

That's good news. As long as the trend continues in that direction until election day, I can see the Dems' chances shrinking. If the trend proceeds at a slower pace, I can still see their chances of taking the Senate are zero.

In another Rasmussen poll:Katie Couric: 46% Have Favorable Opinion Of New CBS Anchor

Too bad the big boys at CBS don't rate her at 46%.

The Dems are kind of in a box. They were really counting on riding gas prices and Iraq to victory. Now gas prices seem to be disappearing as an issue and Bush is putting them on the defensive when it comes to the WOT.

The Dems really need GOP voters to be dispirited and stay home.

I think that's part of it. Plus, some people actually think he lowered gas prices (It's not as if he raised them in the first place!). Economic ignorance doesn't always work to the GOP's detriment.

I think the addition of Tony Snow to the staff has had something to do with this rise in his numbers. Ever since he started there, we've been seeing more of Dubya - in essence, we've been fighting back...finally!

Which is about as logical as a man cutting off his manhood because it's too short, but I digress...

The retail price of gasoline does appear to be inversely related to the popular approval rating of the President. In the present instance, I believe there are essentially three reasons why President Bush's approval ratings have risen:

1.

2.

3.

"a nice retort to the "Country Club Republican" nonsense."

Except, I've spent plenty of time literally AT the country club here in Vegas, going to functions that were all jelly filled. So while I know of no Republican who has actually committed suicide, I know plenty of Country Club Republicans.

NBC has a new poll showing Bush up from 38 to 42% among adults leaning so far to the left that they walk in circles.

"Oh boy, here we go... Are we ready for the MSM/DEMs suicidal watch???"

I for one am certainly happy to sit and watch as the DEM. train derails and wrecks itself in slow-motion.

Well said. These daily polls really picked up during Clinton's reign, probably because of the traitors' popularity. The media was glad to shove this down our throats daily to remind us what a great man the sinkmeister was. I'm tired of hearing about them, they are of miniscule importance, and we give way to much credence to them. Not to mention the left-wing skew they begin with, which destroys any semblance of credibility from the get go.
Thank goodness we have a president that does what he thinks is right, and doesn't depend on the media driven left to tell him (and us)if he is good.

LOL Ain't gonna happen. George W. is for open borders and amnesty. Nuff said.

Btw, the current Fox News poll has him at 40% approval. Most polls have Bush still down in the opinions of most Americans. IF Bush can rally the GOP's conservative base and pick up some independent voters for the 2006 midterms, Democrats will be kept OUT of power for another two years.

Funny, I only know 5 people who consider that to be inside the president's control. Are your friends libs, or conspiracy theorists?
