We have always flown a flag.....but I have noticed that since the 5th. anniversary this week, the neighbors have bought new flags and they're flying proudly on the houses again.

Debra has always "gotten" it.
She is the anti-Jersey Girls.

Very good article. Thanks! I also miss the almost abrasive patriotism we all felt after 9/11. I still believe it's lurking in the hearts of most, but life coarsens us to let it lie dormant. My hope is that we find a way to reignite that American passion without the prompt of another attack. In truth, that attack may prompt more division than cohesion.

A most worthy essay. When I reached the end and saw who the author was, I couldn't stop the tears.
Debra Burlingame is the sister of Capt. Charles F. Chic Burlingame III, pilot of American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. She is a director of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.

I know what you mean. On Monday, someone said to me, "I see you have your [flag] pin on for 9/11." I was proud to be able to reply, "Actually, I wear this every day."

Debra has always "gotten" it. She is the anti-Jersey Girls. No wonder she is ignored by the media. That makes her also anti-their agenda.
