Matthews' Advice to Dems: Point Finger at Bush Like a Prosecutor at a Murderer

Chris Matthews is as frustrated as an able-bodied seaman after six months without shore leave. After 12 long years in the desert of the congressional minority, Matthews clearly senses this is the year for the Dems to snatch back the Speaker's gavel. His frustration is borne of the fear that the Dems will squander the opportunity out of timidity - an unwillingness to attack President Bush on the war in Iraq.

Things boiled over on this evening's Hardball. With guests Howard Fineman of Newsweek and Chuck Todd of the Hotline as witnesses to the meltdown, Matthews first played a hard-hitting Moveon.org ad accusing Republicans of misleading the nation into Iraq and trying to "exploit 9/11" to win elections. Matthews complained that while the Republicans are willing to use the same kind of tactics against the Democrats, Dems "are afraid to run an ad like that."

Really? The party whose surrogate, the NAACP, ran the infamous TV commercial accusing George Bush of being the equivalent of a racist murderer dragging a black man to death behind a truck wouldn't scruple to run an anti-war ad?

Things got very ugly a bit later, when Matthews said this:

"There's a great saying, the prosecutor says you've got to point to the guilty guy in front of the jury and say 'he committed the murder' because if the jury doesn't believe you believe the guy did it and have the guts to face them with it, they won't find him guilty. And I think the Democrats have got to point the finger and say they're right: he's the bad guy."

The image displayed here is of Matthews illustrating just how Democrats should point the accusatory finger at the president.

Remember this the next time your hear a Dem self-righteously decrying the Republicans' harsh tone, as they have at great length over Majority Leader Boehner's recent statement. Chris Matthews, former aide to Dem Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, and leading MSM light, has counseled them to treat the President of the United States like a murderer in the box.

Bring it on, you walkin' hair-style...

This is the absolutely worst thing the Donks can do. Now that President Bush's approval numbers are once again approaching 50%, the Donks will not do themselves any favors by alienating half the elecotorate.

It's too late for the Donks to advance any coherent agenda. All they have is negativism. They put all their eggs in the "Hate Bush" basket, and the bottom just fell out. Jumping up and down and screaming about it is only going to make matters worse.

This election is going to be a disaster for the Donks. Mark my words.

Chris can point his finger here.............

2002, the Senate early Friday voted 77-23 to authorize President Bush to attack Iraq if Saddam Hussein refuses to give up weapons of mass destruction as required by U.N. resolutions.

Good grief, couldn't he just dummy up some fake documents...well, I guess that's been tried. You know what, this has gone over the edge into insanity. These people are as out of control as the DUers and the KosKommies. Fineman this morning was absolutely rabid on Imus. This is some kind of syndrome. I just don't know what the heck it is.

I'm beginning to realize that all the "hoopla" and polls regarding a Rat takeover in November may be just a little premature otherwise, why do all the Dims (and their willing enablers and supporters, such as Mathews and most of the MSM) have their knicker in a bunch?

Personally, I think its coming close to the time when they will all hit the:

The title of his show is appropriate, then.

Because it's a good metaphor for frustration. Why drag the accusation of homosexuality into it? Do you know something we don't about this married man with three children?

You need to cut the drama GLG. The way I see it he was no more serious about accusations of homo behavior than you were about hetero. If I took your tack I'd ask why bring sexuality into the discussion of this Matthews pissant at all?

I'm beginning to realize that all the "hoopla" and polls regarding a Rat takeover in November may be just a little premature

It's absolute "hoopla". This is the dems playbook prior to every election. In 2002 it was going to be revenge for Bush "stealing the 2000 election" with "The Punk" Terry McAuliffe saying how they were going after Jeb Bush. That didn't work out to well as, the last time I checked, Jeb Bush is still governor of Florida and we even regained the Senate after "Jumpin Jim Jeffords" left the party. In 2004 we were all told that Kerry had it in the bag and even after all the dirty tricks like Memo-gate and the Bush lied, and Bush is an idiot, and the celebrities saying how terrible Bush was, he gets more votes than any one in history.

So it's the same old story: plenty of Bush lied, he is an idiot, he's Hitler, he's this, he's that, we got the election in the bag, blah blah blah. Of course the celebrities, ala the Dixie Chicks, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, now feel embolded to throw their two cents in as well and there will be more.

So it's the same old story. All we have to to is stick together, go out and vote in November, and things will take care of themselves. Then we all get to look at those stunned looks on all of their faces as they can't believe they lost another election. Now how much fun would that be?

When will Matthews, the rest of the Old Media and the RATS ever realize that they've done NOTHING BUT point fingers and make horrid accusations against this President during a time of war, AND IT HASN'T DONE THEM ONE BIT, NOT ONE BIT OF GOOD!

sheeeesh!!!!

They just can't stop themselves and are quite effectively destroying themselves before our very eyes.

We should continue to make every effort to stay out of their way while they complete the task....

There is a tendency among some FReepers to accuse virtually anyone on the other side politically of being homosexual. I believe it does not reflect well on us.
