And it was Carters National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who oversaw this disastrous foreign policy. I remember a show, 7-8 years back with Zbig crowing that they'd suckered the Sov's into invading Afghanistan. He was actually chortling about it.
Well, Afghanistan bred the Mujahadeen and the Muj bred Osama and history bred the rest.
Thanks Jimmy, Zbig and Christopher, for both Iran and Al-Queda! Boneheads, all of them! Inept, incompetent and traitors.
We're still cleaning up their mess 25 years later. We'll be cleaning up BJ's mess longer than that even.

...a Democratic President, Jimmy Carter, who presided over the seizure of power in Tehran by Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979, with a mixture of ineptitude and admiration. And it was Carters National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who oversaw this disastrous foreign policy.Jimmy Carter got a Nobel Peace prize by propping up vicious tyrannical dictatorships.
It was Ayatollah Khomeini who coined the phrase "paper tiger", and said of Jimmy Carter, "His presidency resembles that of a chicken running around with it's head cut off".
Jimmy Carter led the worst presidency ever in my lifetime, Clinton exascerbated it, and President Bush is cleaning up their mess that they kicked down the road.

Clintoon had to gut our intelligence, just in case his kgb file came to light. My opinion is that he was paid by the kgb when in England. Who else could have paid for and arranged his trip to Moscow when he was a "poor kid on scholarship"...
At that time the kgb controlled who entered their country totally.

Could I add Kennedy to your list? Today a NY women called Rush and took umbrage ast his mention of Kennedy in the same sentence as Bush as statesmen. Frankly, I think Kennedy belongs right in there with Clinton with his womanizing, election stealing, botched CIA op at Bay of Pigs, and ties to organized crime.

Let 'em burn him at the stake on the news shows. All this recent GOP testosterone is about rousing the base for November. And it will probably work. And besides, it's true. Now if they keep it up AFTER November I'll be impressed (and surprised)

"They were only released after the Carter Administration negotiated a considerable ransom, when Ronald Reagan was about to be inaugurated. Am I the only one (who also considers himself somewhat politically astute and one who is interested in current events and tries to keep up with what is happening--after all, why would I spend so much time here lol) who is learning about this for the first time?
Ransom?
Does anyone of you knowledgeable Freepers have any additional information on this matter?

I think that the term "Paper Tiger" was first used by Mao Ze Dong. In 1966, a buddy of mine named his dog "Paper Tiger" in Japan.

"In appearance it is very powerful but in reality it is nothing to be afraid of, it is a paper tiger. Outwardly a tiger, it is made of paper, unable to withstand the wind and the rain. I believe the United States is nothing but a paper tiger."
- Mao Zedong, 1956

So when are we going to see Mr Hydes comments in the MSM??
Oh I forgot, as far as they are concerned--it never happened.
To: citizencon
" Unfortunately, many of the hardcore libs today either have amnesia or have not been born yet during the Carter administration "
And ?
Of course they ( Liberals/Dems/MSDBM will " SHEEPLE the People " by spinning this, twist it and use one of their moonbat conspiracy theories that the Republicans secretly conspired to have the Shah fall from power, and caused those poor Islamic militants to take over the US embassy in Tehran to make President Carter and the Democrats look weak and look bad so the Republicans can get Ronald Reagan elected. Sarcasm
Once again, they will never admit it, that it was THEIR fault that the reason why we have the problems we have today with Iran is because of the Democrats.
Offffffff course it's never the Democrats fault, Big dose of SARCASM here.
