Nobody would hear of this, if if weren't for the media desire to oust Perry.

they're still running against Bush

Something about Friedman stinks too close to H Ross Perot, who I would STILL like to drop kick from Natchitoches to El Paso and back for all his tomfoolery, starting with House Bill 72 ("no pass, no play"). I hold Perot responsible for helping to get Clinton into office. The utter depravity of the 90s are HIS fault. Friedman sounds like a Perot re-do to me.

Either way, I have a feeling Im going to be holding my nose very tightly this election....

I have talked to alot of folks who are voting for Kinky. ALOT. These are Repub voters.

Quite a few are pretty big Repub donors that are giving to Kinky's campaign via a 2nd person (oil guys).

Personally I can't stand Perry.

Friedman also stands with Republicans who want to see prayer and the Ten Commandments back in schools, and he frequently quotes or praises conservative icon Ronald Reagan and other GOP leaders.

Along with legalized drugs, free condoms, gambling lessons so they'll be educated when they go to the casinos that he wants to bring to Texas.

I might vote for Kinky simply because he won't be able to get anything done since the Republicans and Democrats won't work with him. This might actually be a good thing.

''Why would you impose a brand new large tax burden on any Texan when you're sitting on a pile of money?'' Barkley said, referring to the state's multibillion-dollar surplus. ''It just makes no logical sense of why you'd do that.'' I agree one hundred percent.I'm a conservative that is voting for Kinky. Gov Goodhair has betrayed us.

I'm a conservative first.

Only the ignorant and gullible believe that, dig deeper and you'll find that this claim doesn't hold up.

Here's a lengthy interview he did earlier in the year:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1688350/posts

Claims he isn't liberal, but all the persons he named were Dems or John McCain.

Wants to appoint Willie Nelson (funder of many leftists, including Cindy Sheehan) to be his 'Energy Czar'.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1686204/posts

Is anti-hunting:

http://www.texashuntfish.com/flexiforums/thread.cfm?pid=8980&sid=17&fid=25

Reminds me of 1992, when the gullible knee-jerk crowd was moaning about how much George Bush was a RINO and how this Clinton guy may be a Democrat but some of what he says kinda appeals to conservatives, hey its only 4 years, how much damage can he really do, I want to send a message, etc.

Kinky is just the latest Lucy with a football for the Charlie Brown wing of conservatism, and the result never change.

I admire him for not being PC.

That hardly overcomes his views on abortion, gay marriage, and hunting...among other things.

So Im glad he doesnt have a real chance, even if (allegedly) many think he is the Texas messiah in a cowboy hat.

Shades of Perot! Calling yourself a conservative does not MAKE you a conservative. I know conservatives and Kinky ain't.

At any rate, if Kinky becomes the next gov - Louisiana's Blanco can move over. Texas will gain title to the Laughingstock Governor of the USA.

Well there is no eutopian conservative candidate out there but I will point out you can judge a man by the associations he has. If Kinky Friedman has that idiot Willie Nelson campaigning for him you can be pretty astute and ascertain Kinky is damaged goods. I just cannot trust what the man says...and... Birds of a feather flock together.

The ultimate disgrace would be having Chris Bell slipping in by Kinky siphoning off conservative votes and then we are really screwed..

Perry is no prize by no means but overall is best for Texas and gets my vote despite his RINO tendencies.

I live in downtown Houston close to Montrose that is infested and infected with lots of Liberals. I notice that LOTS of these Liberals support Kinky Friedman due to his views on drugs, gambling, abortion etc.

With that fact and that Willie Nelson supports him can he really be that good for Texas or is he just saying a lot of conservative catch phrases to ensnare angry conservatives?

I admire and respect conservatives that are concerned about real conservative issues but am afraid they are gulping at bait cast on the water. Remember a person tells you what they want you to hear to get what they really want to get

Any thoughts Freepers?
