"It is a well documented fact that nearly all serial killers started off with cruelty or the killing of small animals"

May be so, but not all those who kill small animals turn out to be serial killers. I think a light jail sentence combined with hundreds of hours of service(in dog shelter, etc) should do it.

Oh, sure, isn't that kinda like a kid in a candy shop, a pedophile in a day care center, etc., etc....

True, but cruelty toward defenseless animals certainly shows a pre-disposition to violence on those weaker than they and a total disregard for the sanctity of life.

Huh? These sub-humans didn't just "kill a small animal". They tortured a puppy to death, viciously, and then were so proud of themselves that they ran around bragging about it to their "friends" and inviting some of them over to look at their achievement. They will NEVER be in any condition to roam around free in human society. People who think torturing sentient creatures is fun are simply lacking the type of brain function that forms the basis of human society. Their mental defect is identical to that of people who enjoy torturing humans, and it's incurable.

In that case, I hope they move next door to you and you let them babysit your kids.

The criminal-coddling club is over in the DUmpster. You'll feel more at home when you return there.

Not all turn into serial killers,
but something like 99.9% animal torturers end up
in prison later for violent offences.

It's like a fever pointing to an infection....the mark of something seriously wrong.

Unfortunately too many judges think this way even though it has been proven wrong over & over. They're not going to change their undisciplined lifestyle of 17+ years just because they get a few weeks or months in jail with their other buddies.

The only way they could ever change is if they turned to Jesus, which if they haven't done by now, by their age, is highly unlikely.

That's not a bad idea. A thousand hours of cleaning up after dogs should keep them off the streets for a while, and the shelters could definitely use the help. Then probation for at least 10 years.

There is something wrong with their heads. A "light" jail sentence will do nothing. It shouldn't be about rehabilitation with these two, it should be about protecting us from them. Nuts.
