Seeking Felony Indictment for Puppy’s Torturous Death

Target: Paul Howard, DA, Fulton County District Attorney

Joshua Molder, age 17, and brother Justin have been accused of Aggravated Cruelty to an animal and two other charges, and are currently jailed without bond. This petition, however, is focused on the Aggravated Cruelty charge.

ATLANTA -- Two Atlanta brothers are in custody at the Fulton County jail charged with the torture death of a five-month old puppy and trashing a local apartment complex. Seventeen-year old Joshua Molder and 18-year old Justin Molder are being held without bond. The Molder brothers stand accused of covering a puppy with paint, hog tying it, trying to set it on fire and when that didn't work, baking the puppy to death in an oven. Inez Marshal is president of the community association at the Englewood Manor Apartments in southeast Atlanta where Joshua and Justin Molder lived. She was called to the rec center the night the brothers were arrested for breaking into the newly remodeled building and trashing it. "They just totally demolished the community center," said Marshal. She said she'll never forget finding the puppy the boys stand accused of torturing and killing. "He was still in the oven; he was tied," said Marshal. "All four feet were tied together, his mouth was duct taped and he was dipped in beige paint," she added. "Not only did they not have an explanation, apparently they went out and bragged about this to other young people in the community, brought them back and showed them their work," said District Attorney Paul Howard. The Moulder brothers are charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and aggravated cruelty to animals.

We ask that the DA of Fulton County, Paul Howard or the attorney assigned to this case, aggressively seek indictment of a felony for this heinous criminal act based on the Anti-Cruelty Statutes of Georgia:

16-12-4. Cruelty to animals c) A person commits the offense of aggravated cruelty to animals when he or she knowingly and maliciously causes death or physical harm to an animal by rendering a part of such animal's body useless or by seriously disfiguring such animal. A person convicted of the offense of aggravated cruelty to animals shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years, a fine not to exceed $15,000.00, or both, provided that any person who is convicted of a second or subsequent violation of this subsection shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years, a fine not to exceed the amount provided by Code Section 17-10-8, or both.

I have no idea how anyone could have such a lack of empathy for the suffering of another living thing, let alone take pleasure from it. These two are serial killers in the making.

You have much more faith in people than I.

Internet forum anonymity serves to loose the tongues of those who would never express their deepest beliefs publicly or privately, otherwise.

My greatest flaw is that I assume everyone who "belongs" to the same ideological group as I automatically holds the same life/moral values.

Needless to say, I spend a lot of time being disappointed.

I doubt this was their first animal victim, as well.

Hopefully the investigation will expand to include past deeds.

[but I doubt it...it was, after all, "just a dog"]

Well said. If puppies were delicacies in the US, people wouldn't be as outraged with this cruelty.

No, not well said or well thought out. People who eat meat in the US aren't sadists who want their food animals tortured to death.

The criminal-coddling club is over in the DUmpster. You'll feel more at home when you return there.

Unless they undergo some kind of miraculous religious conversion, these boys are sure bets to become cold-blooded serial killers when they get a little older. They fit the profile perfectly. And the chances of that happening are not great.

Save that to commie lurkers. I am merely going against the "death penalty for animal torturers" wave that has swept this thread.

Pure, distilled and unadulterated evil.

When one of my dogs plows into another while playing at full speed in the yard, I literally feel like a dagger has pierced my heart if they yelp for even a second.
I don't understand how anyone could "enjoy" that sound.

We'll be hearing more about these two in a few years.

There's some serious miswiring of the brains going on there, and there is a good chance they will apply this ungodly hatred to human beings at some point in the future unless they're either 'stopped' or incarcerated.

Parents? I see no mention of them in the portion of the article posted to FR.

Whether or not, the lack of fathers in black families to provide limits and guidance on their conduct of their children, and yes - love, really has to be impacting black children with a single female parent.

A small village south of where Mrs. Fury and I live is well known for it's high rate of teen pregnancy, mothers who have significant substance abuse problems, and drug arrests. In just the last several three-four years, the problems are getting worse, if reports in the local newspaper are any indication of problems.

The psychological science is clear. The proper response to these two is the same as the proper response to finding a black widow spider in your house -- it's too dangerous to allow to live; kill it.

It has nothing to do with "penalty", any more than putting down a rabid animal for the same reason is a "penalty".

It's simply self-defense.

You just don't comprehend the long range implications of wimply punishments.

Most states have weak laws regarding animal abuse.
They'll probably get 'a couple months soft time and community service' which will accomplish -nothing- insofar as rehabilitation goes.

In WV, it's now a felony to abuse animals.

Last year a Martinsburg man [and I use that term loosely] tied his wife's dog to a railroad track whereupon the oncoming train ran over and severed the dog's entire lower jaw but did *not* kill him.
He laid there suffering for -hours- until he was found by a passer-by.

The wife of the creep told the LEO he'd already killed her cat earlier in the day and that he did *those* deeds because beating -her- just wasn't having the 'get back into line' effect he'd hoped for.

After learning that he was now guilty of felony animal abuse and bound for long, hard time, she recanted and began to campaign for his release.

She had kids he terrorized, as well.

He got hard time in spite of her.

There is a lot of dog lovers in prison too.

Exactly. Prison is quite likely to be an unhealthy place for those two.

Death penalty. For a dog ? Are you insane?

I agree. The crap beat out of them and being watched for life would be sufficient. There is something real wrong with them.

Hopefully, their various girlfriends are being tracked down, and any young children associated with them given a thorough check-up.
