The site I viewed it on was very annoying. It had all six clips downloading at once, which meant that none of them finished downloading until they were all finished downloading. I didn't attempt to save them, not even sure if that was an option

I think we are getting too excited by the 2.5 hours.

I remember that ABC was hounded for "profiting" with this show so they decided to run it commercial free.

If the original format for tonight was 3 hours or 6 - 30 minute segments. The typical amount of commercials is 8 minutes every 30. That would give us 48 minutes of commercials over the 3 hours.

So, if the decided not to run commercials, they immediately lost 48 minutes of air time. So, the had to drop it to 2.5 hours and add Nightline.

Just an observation:

2.5 hours commercial free is not the same as 3 hours with commercials.

On average, a 3 hour program WITH commercials needs about 48 minutes of commercials, which leaves about 2 hours, 12 minutes for program content.

And we're supposed to get 2.5 hours of pure content tonight.

This leads me to believe that, all along, no commercials were intended (correcting myself from earlier).

Good point....If it ran 2.5 hours there, they did cut about 30 minutes probably since that would be roughly the commercials.

Maybe ABC did cave.

The only way to know for sure is to watch this past Friday's Nightline. When I used to watch Nightline, on Fridays they would say "Have a good weekend, and we'll see you back here on Monday."

If they said that on Friday, then this Nightline thing tonight was made up on the fly, in order to cover for cut material.
