Zapatero urges calm response to terrorism **BARF ALERT**

Helsinki, Sep 10 (EFE).- Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero on Sunday here defended "calm responses" to terrorism as the only really effective ones and he urged that special attention be paid to the victims of terrorism all over the world.

Zapatero made his suggestions before dozens of world leaders at the 6th EU-Asia, or ASEM, summit, where the task before participants from the 25 EU nations and 13 Asian countries is to marshal international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, combat climate change and foster trade, among other things.

He said that ASEM must adapt itself to new challenges, among them that of global terrorism ...

After emphasizing that governments are obligated to protect their citizens from the threat of terrorism, he said that it is imperative to develop "a moral, intellectual, juridical and police framework to strengthen the efficacy and the legitimacy of the efforts" to counter terrorist activity.

Zapatero expressed his judgment that the threat must be confronted in all its complexity, in all its dimensions, from a political consensus based on effective multilateralism, international cooperation, the defense of legality and respect for human rights. In that context, he defended reinforcing the institutional framework of the United Nations so that it can assume the leadership in the struggle against terrorism.

Along those lines, Zapatero recalled that the U.N. General Assembly supported the global strategy against terrorism proposed by Secretary General Kofi Annan, adding that now it is urgent for member nations to conclude a global convention against terrorism and, specifically, an agreement against nuclear terrorism. The Spanish leader reiterated his proposal made last year to establish an international fund to economically assist countries who have fewer resources so that they can fulfill their international obligations in the anti-terrorism effort.

Oh help me.

The scumbag might as well have issued an engraved invitation to the binladenites to strike Spain again. Apparently, they can hit Spain as hard as they like, Spain will only respond 'calmly.' I doubt they've caught all the terrorists there in any case.

The further you read in this story, the barfier it gets.

Spain will be the first jewel in the crown of the Islamofascist leaders of Eurabia.

Of course he owes his election to terrorism, so one can understand while he might feel kindly toward it.

You mean as in .... "the threat must be confronted in all its complexity, in all its dimensions, from a political consensus based on effective multilateralism, international cooperation, the defense of legality and respect for human rights."

Are the Spanish people really that gullible that they would fall for this lefty professor kind of double talk?

Spain has been full of Islamists before, is now, and will be even more full in the future due to weakness, collaboration and outright fear.

The Spanish surrender monkeys are out peddling surrender.

No wonder Spain lost its empire centuries ago.

Perfect example of what Kerry would bring to the Presidency.

Clinton did this for the 8 "do-nothing" years of his presidency.

he urged that special attention be paid to the victims of terrorism all over the world.

Except in Spain, of course, where the ETA-loving ZP has been the "gran ausente" (notable absence) at events for victims of ETA terrorism...actually, he hasn't even been too good on turning up for events for the victims of the March 11 Islamist bombers. In other words, his definition of terrorism is extremely limited and never encompasses leftists (like ETA) or Muslims.

Thanks to ZP, Spain has gone back to being a little nothing country, so the Islamists probably won't bother to stage another attack there. They don't need to. They know that they could walk right in the door any time they want and ZP would be handing them the key to the city - make that country.

What exactly is a calm response to being ruthlessly murdered?

"Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero on Sunday here defended "calm responses" to terrorism as the only really effective ones....."

I kinda agree.

We need to calmly kill each and every one of them.

See, I seem to be maturing to a point wherein I am more prone to consider the thoughts of others.

Yep, ever so calmly, KILL them ALL and let God sort it out.

That's true. And Spain is leading the pack. Well, not if the Spanish bishops have anything to say about it, but the other part of ZP's two-pronged approach is that he is attacking the Church.
