September 10, 2006 -- Bill Clinton's camp yesterday demanded that ABC can its controversial film "The Path to 9/11," due to air tonight - and in a scathing new letter accused the network of exploiting the tragedy for ratings. Clinton's wrath comes amid new revelations that the Toronto set of the fictionalized flick was plagued by actors' concerns that the script was playing fast and loose with the truth, sources told The Post.

Clinton's lawyer, Douglas Band, and the CEO of his foundation, Bruce Lindsey, penned the fuming missive to ABC bigwig Bob Iger. It was dated Friday but released to the press yesterday.

It begins with a friendly "Dear Bob" salutation - but quickly leaves the pleasantries behind.

"As a nation, we need to be focused on preventing another attack, not fictionalizing the last one for television ratings," it reads.

But Clinton's aides, in a race to beat the clock before tonight's scheduled 8 p.m. telecast, used stronger language yesterday.

"Do the right thing for the country and pull this despicable work of fiction from the air," urged Jay Carson, a Clinton spokesman.

"Airing something that is incontrovertibly incorrect at a time like this is inexcusable."

One controversial fictionalized scene that sparked outrage features then-National Security Adviser Sandy Berger declining to give the go-ahead to kill Osama bin Laden.

There's no censorship. ABC didn't cave. The movie is going to be shown, whether Bubba likes that or not. The director said on Friday that it was too late to edit, and ABC can't edit someone elses work

Interesting that you need lie to make a point about lying. You can be against the military action in Iraq without ignoring the truth that EVERYBODY that had access to the intelligence on Iraq and WMDs believed it to be true.

From what I have seen said, it appears they are carefully couching the challenge to accuracy as merely on the issue of whether he HUNG UP THE PHONE, rather than whether he instructed them NOT to kill Bin Laden.....it's word-parsing Clitonesque to the Nth degree, as usual.

The "Cleaning Lady" is merelely bitching because she is shown to be a bumbling dufus, which is 100% accurate.

In this case, this is partly Bush's fault: if he had cleaned house when coming in and had prosecuted the criminals Clinton left in the National Security apparatus (or now out of it, like Berger) after 9/11, this wouldn't be happening now.

Do you think the Dems would be able to mount a campaign like this if Berger had been charged and jailed for attempting to hide or destroy documents requested by the 9/11 Commission?

Like actors would know anything about the truth. Their job is to pretend to be something they are not. Their whole profession is anything but the truth.

While certainly the professed opinions of certain actors and actresses can be mind-numbingly obnoxious, let's be a little fair. "Their job", when done well, is to portray the universal truths of the human condition, to capture the truths of human emotion, and make that which is ordinarily individual resonant for the many.

There is a reason people are drawn to the art, both as participants and as audience, and I don't believe it's for lies.

Just what are you implying here. From the records what he said about the Sarin, mustard gas and VX have been shown to be true. We still don't know how much of this stuff Saddam has buried in the desert and probably won't until the canisters disintegrate and the stuff gets released.

I think one reason Liberals fall so easily for moonbat conspiracy theories is because they have such confidence that the Government can do whatever it wants. Therefore, if 9/11 happened, and the Government did nothing to prevent it, it means that either the Government was involved in the implementation or purposely stood aside to let it happen. The notion that the Government was doing it's best, but the Government's best is just not very damn good, is unthinkable to them.
