Old, Old, Old. Tired, Tired, Tired.
Jewish World Review ^ | May 30, 2002 | Michael Kelly

I wonder how many people rang in Memorial Day this year sitting in a darkened room watching HBO's documentary of the slaughter of the World Trade Center and weeping. This was a different sort of Memorial Day; these are different times. It is hard to always remember really how different they are, and that catches and sometimes trips up even people whose business it is to be sensitive to fresh rhythms. The other day, reacting to not much of a story about not much of a warning that President Bush was given before Sept. 11, Democratic congressional leaders went a-shrilling all over the place demanding to know What the President Knew and When Did He Know It, and Republican congressional leaders shrieked in response their horror that anyone would Question the Commander in Chief in a Time of War.

We are now entered into a serious time, a time of protracted conflict. To some degree, we will be engaged in this alone; certainly in the sense that a leader is alone. And we must lead. No one else has the capacity to direct what will become a fluid and shifting alliance between the nations that wish to promote democracy, trade and order arrayed against the nations and extranational forces that wish to promote fascism, gangsterism and smash-and-grab anarchy. We have a president who seems to understand this, which is helpful. We have a people who seem to understand it too, which is essential.

Tweak the names and this column from a writer who died in Iraq back in 2003 still works. And it still illuminates the key dilemma-- how to manage the work-around of September 10th leadership.
Reading this years ago, I thought we were entering a new epoch, that 'serious time' that Kelly described. Unfortunately only a minority of our fellow citizens have been able to discern the new realities. The Reids, the Pelosis, Schumers, Albrights and the Murthas have been successful in their misdirections. The general public has lost track of what we are doing and what needs to be done in the way of guarding our national security.
It's pretty clear that we're going to have to take another critical blow before the rest of the citizenry wakes from its slumber and realizes that we are in a struggle to the death. And that we need real leaders to bring us to victory.

The London plot doesn't seem to have had any effect on the sleepy ones. How much more of a wake-up call do they need?

The future doesn't hold much promise for escalation by the enemy.

This may be slightly off topic (I apologize), but my husband, a retired military intelligence First Sargent, has been awakened several times per night, several days in a row, by nightmares.

In his nightmares he is stunned and horrified by a terrorist attack that occurs around the 9/11 date. He has no clue what kind of attack, as the dream always seems to start "in progress", and he is confronted only by the aftermath of the attack. He described the feeling as being paralyzed and not even being able to help. I've never seen him this worried by a dream before.

I won't believe that Jesus will let us loose this war. He will not watch America walking around in burcas, he just won't.

Americans don't really care about the rest of the world, something will have to happen in the USA again before they wake up and then it will only be for a few years.

You speak of Jesus not allowing us to lose, and yet his alledged apostles here on earth at this time are allowing an ex-Iraqui President to speak at the National Cathedral an at Georgetown University. A heathen speaking inside Christs churches.

"How much more of a wake-up call do they need?"

No matter what happens there will be no wake-up call. Have you already forgotten who was in the Whitehouse for eight years before our current President? It was a lying draft dodger that "Loathed" our military. Look at the two past democrat candidates for President, both hate our military. If this country suffers another major attack, the democrats will be celebrating and dancing in the streets. Just for the sheer chance that their party may regain control of the White House and Congress. No matter how many innocent Americans die, to them, it will be worth it.

Perhaps you are right. But on the security issue, the Dems still can't touch Bush and that really is the point that the Dems missed in their 2004 and now 2006 polling.

Blame America first crowd, blame Clintoon.

Then make sure you vote for the best republican you can and don't waste your vote by not voting.

Our enemies are media-savy. They get PR among Muslims from attacking America, but they also risk giving a George Bush the PR he needs at the selfsame time. They have to have figured out the difference between a Democratic POTUS and a Republican one by this time. If we suffer another severe attack our enemies foreign and domestic will rejoice . . . and then start sweating our response.

The public won't vote Democrat because the Republicans couldn't "be right all the time when they will know that the Democrats criticize like crazy but ultimately the Democrats are incoherent and don't even try to make the government effective at keeping the country safe.

Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him. Proverbs 16:6-8

As long as abortion and hollywood exist, I don't think we can say our ways are pleasing.

Just a thought.
