Iraqi authorities hanged 27 convicted "terrorists" on Wednesday, the interior ministry announced.
"Twenty-seven terrorists were hanged today in Baghdad. Most of them were Iraqis," interior ministry spokesman Abdul Karim Khalaf told AFP.
The authorities reinstated the death penalty which was abolished after the US-led invasion of March 2003.

Have the 50 or so been identified of those who were found all over Baghdad over the weekend, bound and shot?

Well, they each get 72 "young" people each of whom are "virgins".
Does that work?

Did they do it outside Saddam's cell?

Lordy, lordy, I'm beginning to be cross-eyed from all the quotation marks on this thread.
Or should that be "eye direction challenged" for "cross-eyed"?

If the Iraqis apprehend any of the Western journalists who are meeting with terrorists, would anyone have a problem if the Iraqi government sentenced them to death as enemies of the state? Not if those journalists were involved in covering up terrorist activities.
For example, Lets say as a journalist I went to visit Jeffrey Dahmer before he was arrested by the authorities. Say we had a nice little chat about his murders and he shows me evidence of them. We also talk about his future plans to kidnap young boys, sexually abuse them, kill them and eat them. I also ask some nice questions (like the one's dictators get from the lib media) about his favorite music, colors, clothes, how much he hates Bush etc. Then I publish my scoop and keep my sources anonymous. Then, lets say Dhamer kills a few more people and eats them. Further complicating the issue, of course, is that in order to make Bush and the incumbent party look bad I am hoping Dhamer kills and eats more people.
So then as a journalist should I get to claim "journalistic integrity" and not reveal my sources? Does my knowledge of past and future crimes matter?
IMO journalists should be charged as accessory to murder for not notifying the authorities of terrorists (or Dhamer's) wherabouts or intentions?
Journalists are accountable for crimes they cover up when interviewing "terrorists" who plan to blow up men, women and children.

Do you get 72 virgins if you are hanged for terrorism?? No. You get 72 feet of virgin hemp rope to swing from through eternity.

"I wonder why this 'news organization' decided to use quotes around 'terrorists'. Oh wait, Agence France-Press. Nevermind."
Quotation marks mean they are quoting someone. It doesn't mean they question the veracity of the quotation. If the men had been common criminals, presumably they would have put "convicts" in quotation marks instead of "terrorists".
