I love it. The metrosexualization of boys (the product of our culture and public school system), may actually be a contributing factor in the demise of the public school system. "Its just too rough for my little boy , Sky !"

And Barbara Tippett likes the socioeconomic diversity of a public school BS.
She likes the price.

Seattle continues to reap the liberal seeds it plants and fertilizes every day. Liberals have really screwed up a beautiful city.

Tippett likes the socioeconomic diversity of a public school without the problems she sees at some of Seattle's. My guess is the empasis is on the -economic diversity, and much less on the socio- , if she's fleeing violence.

I have to think someone who's named their little darling Sky & talks about socioeconomic diversity helped create the problem she's removing her own kid from. If people were forced to sit in the nests they helped create, they might learn something & stop trying to create the unworkable based on silly Utopian ideals.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL PING! This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. If you want on/off this list, please freepmail me. The main Homeschool Ping List by DaveLoneRanger handles the homeschool-specific articles.

I once met a woman who had a son named Ocean. No kidding.
Mr. Tired of Taxes and I once discussed naming one of our kids Seven (after a Seinfeld episode). But we came to our senses and picked a more traditional name in the end. ;-)

Does anyone know the inside about Seattle schools? I did 10 years in Philly. They recently had a group of high school girls, and a mother, jump and beat up another girl. That is par for Philly and it often gets much worse.
Compared to what goes on there, Seattle seems like a dream environment. Aside from the high level of PC crap that I've read about, what's the problem w/the local schools? Of all the things they might be, "too violent" wasn't something that came to mind. Maybe mom is just a tad overprotective?
