RUSH: Let me deal with a rumor that circulated over the Internet. It hit the Drudge Report, I forget, I guess it was sometime Saturday or Sunday, the rumor being that I am helping to launch or welcome Katie Couric to the CBS Evening News tonight or this week. The reporting on this was somewhat confusing and sketchy based on how you read it. I had people e-mailing me all weekend long who were taking different things out of it. It's amazing to study this. This is a little aside, but it was an amazing thing to study the way people read things. Drudge was pretty clear about what this rumor was, but I had people write, "So! I see you're going to welcome Katie tomorrow night with Cronkite?" Meaning tonight.

from link:

"So last Thursday, we taped it in the EIB Building in Manhattan after the radio show, and it wasn't until I guess Saturday that I found out it actually is going to run on Thursday. That's the plan now. I don't know who's doing tonight. I don't know who's doing tomorrow night. I've heard that Clinton's done one, that McCain's going to do one, Giuliani. I don't know about anybody else. I have no clue who else is doing this, other than -- and I don't know any more than you do. I only know that I did mine and it will air sometime in the newscast on Thursday, and a lot of you, I think, are a little shortsighted on this, and I responded to some of the e-mails over the weekend questioning my loyalty to the movement, questioning my sanity, questioning my brains."

Looks like Rush will get more airtime out of this than CBS.
Good luck to him. As for Katie, you can have her.

Didn't Rush's site at one point have an all-in-fun graphic
saying "The CBS EVENING NEWS with RUSH LIMBAUGH"? :)

Rush should ask, "Hey, Katie -- how come I could never get any face time when you were on the Today show?"

Rush Commentary To Air This Thursday Puts Our Views on CBS Evening News

Which should have been evident to everyone from the start. And applauded.

I can understand the people that resent Rush's success, or unapologetic statements in favor of conservatism...even if it pits him against certain Republicans they support no matter what....wishing to tear him down. But everyone else should really know better then to think he's going to surrender to the Liberals now.

"If my appearance on CBS can save one liberal, it will have been worth it".

He also said he has to go where the sinners are.

LOL

I heard him say that and cracked up.

On other threads, there are FReepers who are criticizing Rush over this. I don't get it.

I'll watch, it should be interesting. I'll bet the moonbats are going crazy over Rush's appearance. That alone makes it worth it.

I never panicked. I trusted Rush's judgment that whatever tactics he employed, with CBS or whomever, he would use for greatest benefit of the conservative voice.

I don't either. Rush is not our personal possession, he's a natural treasure of conservatism!

Most people have an opinion formed of Rush developed from reading hateful blurbs by the MSM.

My liberal brother heard me listening to him one one, and said, "Hey, I agree with that guy!"

My guess is that CBS will air Rush and then maybe a smattering of weak RINOS, but CBS will ensure that the ratio will always be 20 to 1 in favor of the lefties and then call it balanced.

While somewhat beyond his control, I hope CBS doesn't use Rush's appearance as political cover to then keep the ratio at 20 to 1 and then always point out how they are bias free and balanced because they had Rush on and all these other Republicans (weak kneed RINOS).

I heard Rush explain his reasoning for doing the interview and it made sense to me. They were going to have a conservative media person on and he was the best. And as Rush said, if one liberal sees the conservative light, it will have been worth it. Many times, callers have said they remember their first contact with Rush and how it caused them to listen in to hear more from a person whom they had heard was close to the devil. On the other hand, if Rush was not asked, many of his listeners would be complaining about the media bias. I have heard good intentioned conservatives speak in various forums and been embarrassed at their lack of talent to make their case even tho they were very knowledgeable and could do so in a written manner. Public speaking is not for everybody and that is one reason Rush is successful, he has the gift of verbal communication. All in all, I see his Couric appearance as a positive.

How many callers have you heard who hated Rush, until they listened to him, and now they're conservatives.

Some viewers will still hate him, but some will like what they hear and tune in.

Win-win.

Now I'm conflicted. I do not wish to add to perky's ratings, but I sure would love to hear what Rush has to say. Maybe we could assign someone to listen and post a transcript.

I still haven't figured out what all the fuss is about, f. He's a big boy, and he knows what he's doing. Win-win, IMO.

LOL

Speaking as someone that was moderately Liberal I didn't like Rush at first, but something about him commands you listen.

I think most conservatism is actually Truth, which is why I've gravitated to it, but without Rush the exposure to conservatism would have been lacking. I credit him in large part for my political conversion.

I am fully behind his appearance on CBS.

Any chance to reach people that are like I was is an opportunity, and its surprising when others cannot see that.
