I'm sorry to hear about his demise. He was so enthusiastic about the wildlife especially the crocs.

I was trying to listen to a web-cast of a radio program in Australia, the connection was shaky at best but the callers had me pretty choked up. I'm trying to find a station I can hear more reliably.

Oh no, what is cBS going to do now? This will take the constant 24 hour a day 7 day a week media attention away from Katie Couric.

Several callers likened the loss to the death of Princess Diana.

The celebrity worship in Western Culture is reaching ridiculous proportions. Yes, when I first heard that Steve Irwin died, I thought it was a sick joke (which was my initial reaction to Diana's death as well) but some of these people are so enamored with these celebrities, it borders on the psycho and during times like this the media are willing to give them a platform for their 15 seconds of fame.

Did not his dad die of an encounter with some wild animal? Anybody know the details of that?

Truly very sad...May Steve rest in heavenly peace.

Prayers, too, for his wife and children and all who loved him for his enthusiastic devotion to the animal world. He was truly one of a kind.

Saddened & shocked by this news.
So young to be gone.
I thouht sure that if he were was taken
by way such as this, t'would
have been via croc attack.

Though I prefere Jeff Cowin's similar program...

I also enjoyed Steve's show.

I wish neither would advocate evolution like Steve did
and Jeff still does.

Other than that stance,

I thought Steve was a great guy.
He was enthusiastic & cheerful & brave.
And a sweet family man.

Wow, I can't believe it, either. He was very entertaining.

I can't believe the way he died is even something that could happen to a person. Yikes. How terrible. Was he taken to a hospital or did he drown or were there crew people there who got him out of the water?

Several callers likened the loss to the death of Princess Diana.

Funny, I thought about that comparison too - probably because they both happened late at night here in the states, were shockingly sudden and both represented an embodiment of their country. To foreingners, Irwin *was* Australia the way Princess Diana *was* Britain.

This is so sad ... two children ... wonderful wife and loads of little and big fans. He put his heart and soul into his work with attitude that made you smile and pay attention. We'll miss him.

In fact, I was ready to turn the light out and go to sleep ... when I switched to the news real fast and thought I was hearing things ... went to FR to check it out. Knew FR wouldn't miss this.

Rest in peace Steve. You are loved and will be missed.

May God bless him. He didnt deserve to die. Why him? I can think of so many other worthless assholes in this world that we can do without. Why does it have to be a nice guy like Steve Irwin?
